Your financial goal as a freelancer

My financial goal as a freelancer and writer is to save enough money to have a downpayment for a nicer home. I like our location but want more room for my family. This goal is motivating me to work harder and cut expenses to put money into savings every month. What are your financial goals and what are they motivating you to do as a freelancer?

Paying down debt is a very noble goal and something which is important for your financial health as a healthy credit score allows access to a good home/car loan and even affects which jobs you can have. As many times, an employer will require a credit check before employment.

At this point, all my income goes toward household bills, groceries, etc. I want to earn more than enough for bills and also savings for a house, nice vacation, etc. Having these goals keeps me motivated working long hours even when I'm very tired and want to sleep.

So far, I really don't have a financial goal; however in saying that... both @Asmodeus and I are saving any extra money we make to go toward building a house. We are hoping to have the project started by either the fall of this year, or early spring next year.

We are currently living in a very small apartment which is oddly laid out. It's very difficult to maneuver around, especially with my five year old son. We are greatly looking forward to having a home that is a little bit bigger in size, but more importantly, to have a layout which is wayyyy more managable than what we have now...lol

My financial goal for my freelancing is to have a stable earning that can replace my salary. This is actually in preparation for my retirement. It scares me to think that I may go hungry when I have no more steady income. If freelancing can earn me enough to handle my personal expenses then I would have peace of mind.
