I am not sure if a freelancer's union or any type of organization could guarantee any work for me and right now, finding reliable freelance work is most important to me.

Essentially, you are in a union when you join SEOClerks, because they look after you. And, that's because the staff will help you mediate disputes with the buyer so you get your money. If you've done a good job, you are guaranteed to be paid here.

I most likely would not. I do not really seen any need for it for me.

Assuming I had access to representation of some sort, whether legal or business, then I would pay $35 a year for such a union. They would need to help me with disputes in case the client did not want to pay or offer something of value for the money paid.

I don't think a freelancer's union would really be able to enforce contracts any better than the freelancer working alone. However, if they provided access to legal counsel, such as via email consultation for advice on contractual issues concerning the freelancer, then that might be a good incentive for the freelancer to join.

I would prefer not to. I like what I am doing right now and am happy for the most part with my results.

I would never join one. I see no use for it.

Sounds like another way for someone to stick their hand into my pocket to take my money! I won't have any part of it.

I don't believe in any kinds of unions, therefore, I would not join a freelancer union. I want to get work on merit basis, I want jobs based on my skills and knowledge. I don't want any person or organization vouch for me. I want to work independently, collectivism is something I despise.

There is strength in numbers and a union is designed for the benefit of the member. I will definitely join and I expect there is a membership due that one has to pay in joining. But I have to know the exact objectives of the union because some unions here are created for political purposes which I abhor. The union should focus on the membership and not on any other issues.
