    What's the worst mistake you can make in advertising?

    What are some mistakes you can make in advertising? My biggest mistake was relying on others to spread the word for my site, such as through the share button. I made that mistake starting out but have reformed my ways and now very proactive in advertising.

    I feel that the worst mistake you can make in advertising is not having a clear objective. You need to know the exact thoughts, emotions and actions you want to ignite in your target visitor. And your call to action(s) must be crystal clear.

    For me, one of the great mistakes in advertising is emphasizing a negative that can turn off viewers and readers. Take this actual example of a tv advertisement of a fast food chicken house. There was this guy receiving his order of chicken. From his looks, he was already salivating since the chicken smells good. And here comes his friend who was asking for a piece. You cannot guess that he guy did. He spat on his chicken then offered it to his friend. That is one yucky commercial that until now I couldn’t come to terms why it got approved by the advertising agency and by the client in the Philippines.
