Other than backlinks, how does Google know a site is popular?

In the past Google used backlinks to judge a site's credibility. That kind of changed with Penguin.

Now, it would be nice if there was a more accurate way for Google to judge a site's popularity than just with backlinking, which is easily manipulated (through spamming techniques.)

What are some other ways for Google to know how popular a site is?

Hello
Have a wonderful day.

Some other ways are to generate keyword based traffic from article. Every article should need to be write by keyword worth and value. Like you have to select one keyword which have a very big volume search value and than you have to write an article with that keyword and you have to publish that article on your website which will give you huge traffic for your website. In this way your website can become popular.

Thanks

Google can always check on the traffic of a website and I think it already has that number when it evaluates a site for the page ranking. Being popular means the website has many visitors although we cannot give an exact number because popularity is relative especially if the website is a large one. What’s definite in this topic is the traffic that your website is getting that is a factor for Google regarding the ranking in the search list.
