SEO and Corporate sites

Are big corporate sites immune to SEO problems? For instance, has a big named website ever been penalized by Google for an SEO infraction?

Hmm... Good question... I am curious too.
But in other hand, why would Google penalize them? It wouldn't hurt most of big sites at all when they have so many loyal, active and responsive members. Just imagine if Google penalize Twitter or CNN, it would be perhaps bigger minus for Google then for these sites...

When you say big corporate websites like a hotel, for example, I don’t think they are immune or given exemptions to the regulations simply because they are big. My take on the SEO is the capability of the website to be in the top position of the search list so it is only natural to do every SEO method that they know. But with the infraction, I don’t think commercial websites will commit that because I’m sure they have technical people who know the proper SEO chores.
