    Getting private messages on Facebook from strangers

    It's disconcerting how Facebook allows anyone to message users on Facebook. There is no setting which allows me to just get messages from friends. All messages not from friends go to my other folder, but I'd rather receive none at all. Maybe this doesn't bother anyone else but it's a concern for me.

    Facebook does very little to keep strangers from contacting you. The only thing you can do is to report the message and block the user if they are bothering you. It's not like in the good old days of Facebook when you could set it to just receive messages from friends.

    I get the most foolish messages from total strangers that aren't even my friends and I become helpless because it can't even block them. Not to talk of those that would tag you with x-rated videos and they're not even on your friends list. It can be very annoying.

    What a coincidence. I recently received a message from aperson I do not know. When I read it, the message is from a long time friend who was actually estranged from me. She is needing help because their house was
    razed by a fire. Well, since that long time friend is considered not a friend
    anymore, I just ignored it. What’s good in Facebook is the privacy. I have read that message from an unknown source and the sender will only be informed that I had opened it if I click “accept.”

    I think the messaging system on Facebook is awesome. I have received messages from strangers who became my clients. Well the option to message anyone also has a drawback, however, I find it more useful. If you receive spam or offensive message you can simply report to facebook
