Most of the people on my Facebook friends list are business associates; close friends in real life or friends from my game clan and Facebook is how we stay in contact when we can't be in game.

On my first Facebook account, I only added people I knew in real life. But then I lost access and had to start a new account. Then I added some people I met through Facebook groups and fan pages. It's been very nice talking to these people as we have lots in common.

Most of my friends on Facebook are friends in real life and also read my blog. So I use my personal Facebook timeline to keep them up to date on my blogging activities.

If it were for a business page then you do not need to know everyone that you add. but if you have a personal page and are adding personal info it may be in your best interest to add only those that you know.

If it were for a business page then you do not need to know everyone that you add. but if you have a personal page and are adding personal info it may be in your best interest to add only those that you know.

For safety reasons, this is very true. There are some really dangerous stalkish type people on the internet and you really don't know someone is that way until you try not being their friend. :/

This seems like an average number of real life friends that a person might know from a combination of school and job and family.

One of my friends on Facebook has over 500 people on his Facebook friend list and says he knows all those people in real life and talks to most every month. I don't see how one person could keep up with so many people. But, good for him.

Maybe he knows all these people through a job situation, such as coworkers or employees. Also, some people are just really popular in real life.

He has a large, extended family as well as a job with many customers, so I'm sure that's how he added all the friends. At one time, I thought 500 friends was a lot, lately I'm seeing people on Facebook with thousands.

If you were required to delete everyone on your Facebook friend list that you don't actually know, you would likely have very few people on your friend list.

He has a large, extended family as well as a job with many customers, so I'm sure that's how he added all the friends. At one time, I thought 500 friends was a lot, lately I'm seeing people on Facebook with thousands.

Some people will randomly add others on Facebook. Those people are not really friends. If you are a very social person, it will be easy to add friends in this way. But if you do it wrong, you will just get reported for adding random strangers.

I am not sure with the figures but maybe more than half of my friends in Facebook are people that I know personally like relatives, friends and colleagues. But some of those people that I only have met in Facebook are interesting to me. And in fact, there were 2 such friends that I met in Hongkong when we had a vacation there some years back. They are working as domestic helpers there and we were so glad to meet each other. Of course, we had lots of photos that we posted afterwards.

I've got 2000 plus Facebook friends and I only know about 75 of them personally. The rest of my Facebook friends are just people who where attracted to my posts who sent me friend requests which I accepted.
