    What makes a good pin on Pinterest?

    Lately, I've been seeing so many really bad pins on Pinterest and other photo pin sites. Mostly these are from forum owners who keep pinning the forum logo. The thing that bothers me is how these Pinterest boards have followers. Why would someone follow such a boring board just to look at a logo pin? I don't see any real value in that type of pin.

    Just from my own point of view, I think a good pin is one that entertains or gives information (such as a good meme or infographic). A pretty picture is fine, so long as it's related to a niche such as fashion, beauty, bridal, jewelry, gardening or other niche that is easily explained via images.

    Don't pin anything boring on Pinterest. Images such as avatars and logos are not suitable for pinning. Though it's understandable that someone would pin those things, especially since forums don't have many other good images to pin. One thing you can do is ensure the photos you pin are highest quality and large enough to be seen clearly on Pinterest.

    Users on Pinterest are detail-oriented. They prefer more tightly-cropped images where the product reins supreme and not the pretty face of a model for a traditional ads. Photos with textured backgrounds in a right size performs best. Multiple colors also drive users. They tend to engage more with images that have dominant colors.

The ultimate purpose of social media sharing is getting traffic. If no one visits your work, there is no point in sharing. Pinterest is a pinboard style social media site. Since Pinterest uses images, the most important thing to consider when sharing on Pinterest is the image. Images for Pinterest should be basically "made for Pinterest images. If you do not have made for Pinterest kind of images, you should at least have high quality images.
