Do you like promoting your timeline posts on Facebook?

Facebook gives you the option to promote your own personal updates on your timeline to friends.

This might be a really useful and affordable way to push a post about your most recent blog or SEOClerks job higher in your friends' news feed to get more notice. If you have a large friend list related to business, this would be the best way to get more interest in the links you are posting.

It could also be good for times when you have a huge announcement such as an engagement or birth of your baby and want the post to feature prominently in friends' feed, so that it's not missed.

A big event or party could be announced and promoted in this way too.

Have you used the 'promote an important post' option for your own personal updates and posts? And, if so, for what type of update or post?

If you are posting an affiliate link on your timeline, you would want to use this promote option as it would ensure most of your friend list would see it and you would get more sign ups.

I have not done that of recent, but it seems this is a great way to go about it. I will try using Facebook to promote some of my blog posts and hopefully get more visitors through that medium.

From what I understand in this topic is a paid promotion. Am I right on this? I am an ordinary Facebook user and right now there is no need for me to promote my timeline posts. This made me think of what post on my timeline should be promoted. Maybe something very important for my Facebook friends to see. However, I still cannot imagine the cost because our money is smaller compared to USD which means a promotion of my post costs a lot.

I've tested it in the past and it does work. It funneled people to my site and I did get some likes. But eventually to save money I stopped using it and develop my own manual funnels through Facebook groups which to me was more efficient.
