Some Youtube music videos get 29 million views or more. Are these real views? And, how would someone get so many views?
its not possible in white hat SEO.

i somehow doubt that but it may be posssible if the person involved is popular celebrity all over the world like micheal jackson or maybe the video content is very beneficial and of high quality and it has been for a long time.
you need alot of time to earn all those views
Like which video ?
its possible if the video is most popular for IE gagnam style
I read somewhere online that Gangnam style earned around $750,000 US dollars in the year 2013 from Adsense on Youtube. This was an insanely popular video! Lots of people watching and sharing.
How a video get million views ?
Many youtube channels are so popular and got millions of subscribers, I have seen few like pewdipie prankvsprank and some game review videos . I think people are really into this stuff and watch videos . Some do marketing and rank them by adding fake HR views for ranking , do seo of the video and stuff like that..
Some are real some are fake . You can easily judge between them by watching the video is it worth or not & the main point which will assure you is number of subscribers . I have seen many videos with millions of views if the dislikes quantity is 5-10% of likes and almost 2-5% of the views then the chances are 80-90% that views are real .
But this is only for new bands and stuff . If you see any youtber or music star who is really popular so everyone knows they dont need fake views .
There's a gamer channel that has videos which receive six million views per video. And, for me, that seems an insane amount of views, considering the videos are just so whacky and off the wall. But I guess that is what appeals to the kids and younger teens who mostly watch these videos. I have enjoyed some of the videos on that channel but most are way too hyper for me. Anyway, it's good to know that there are gaming videos that kids can watch that are 'kid friendly' and not aimed at adults. Those videos deserve millions of views, and I'm thinking all the views are real as it's a super popular channel.
Maybe those are heavily promoted videos, such as ones from Vevo. Those videos will have a huge promotion budget. As a small time Youtube channel owner, you can't really compete.
Some regular channel owners are lucky enough to have a video go viral on Youtube or Facebook and get lots of shares. These videos are usually passed around from friend to friend, being reshared time and again. The video might be a funny or inspiring one.
This thing called viral, whether videos or images, is a phenomenon in social media network. Even social scientists are baffled why a certain video would go viral. Take for instance the Apple and Pen video of a Japanese. It's a very simple video that if you analyze, you'd find it nonsensical for it's like a nursery rhyme. But it garnered millions of views. Maybe this phenomenon can also be called x-factor, that element of popularity that cannot be explained.
