    Thank you for the second paragraph of your comment. This is the first time that I have seen social signal and now I learned what it means. When you post the link of your website in social media like a Facebook post on your timeline, that means you are causing to have social signals for your website. And when you post a link of your website in a forum or a blog comment, that means you are posting a backlink. I hope I am correct on my understanding.

    Yes, your understanding of social signals and social bookmarking is correct. Some SEO expert says that it does not matter whether you generate likes on your posts on social media, what actually matter is sharing. By sharing you already generated a social signal.However, some say that you need likes and reshares on the post to generate social signals.
