Changing a domain name after purchase

Is there a way to modify or change your domain name after purchase without buying a new one, much like you would change a file name?

I don't think you can actually change a domain name once it's set. You would need to buy a new domain name.

I don't think you can actually change a domain name once it's set. You would need to buy a new domain name.

This is why you should put lots of thought into your domain name before purchase as it's not changeable afterward.

If your domain name really bothers you, then you could always redirect to a new domain or a subfolder or subdomain on the same site.

You can purchase any domain and than not change domain name. and change any domain name you pay extra charge.

Have you considered the possibility of buying a similar TLD and redirecting to your home page? That would solve the problem of TLD dissatisfaction.

Maybe you are thinking of a Tumblr website or other free site such as Webs where you are assigned a subdomain or page rather than a top level domain. With a TLD you cannot change the domain name after purchase.

Maybe you could put some work into your site (which is attached to the domain name) and then over time you would actually learn to love the site and TLD more. Right now, if there is no site attached to the TLD, you are likely to regret your purchase. But give it a while and you might find yourself liking the name more rather than wanting to change it.
