What's the best free browser to use?

Which browser do you use most? I want to find some new internet browsers other than Firefox that are easy to use and very lightweight and won't slow down my computer. I've used Chrome but it is very memory intensive.

I'm trying out Maxathon now, a free cloud based browser.

The browser is not only good for your computer but mobile devices such as iPad and iPhone.

Lunarscape is a very light browser you can use on computer or mobile and very popular, downloaded more than 20 million times daily. Though it might not be a name brand like Google Chrome, it seems many people like using the browser.

I've downloaded this browser and it seems to load very fast. Though the start up bookmark bar was loaded with links to Chinese sites. Is this browser from a Chinese based company? I'm not sure why they would preload my bookmark bar with links to sites I might not want to visit. Other than that, the browser could be an ideal choice. I will give it a try for awhile and let you know.

Chrome has been very laggy for me, though it's a good browser when it actually works. Most times, I use a Chrome clone if not Firefox. I like the Chrome clones as they are less laggy than actual Chrome browser for me.

IceDragon is a good browser, available from Comodo and a replica of the more popular Firefox. There are many plug ins available for this Firefox like browser.

Most people don't have a problem with Chrome, so it could just be related to your computer, rather than browser.

There are paid (non-free) browsers???

That was also my first reaction, I couldn't imagine paying for a browser and if they exist I sure want to know of their features that others don't have.

For me I use Google Chrome and have for a couple of years now, maybe longer. I used Firefox before that but it over time it felt bloated and slow so I made the switch. These days Chrome serves me pretty well but I also have it crash a few times a week which can be rather frustrating depending on what I am working on. Granted it's usually when I hit upwards of 100 tabs.

Karoshio

One feature I'd want in a 'paid browser' (if one existed) is a not so intrusive web surfing experience. Google tracks everything via Chrome (and many other browsers do too). Even if you just type a phrase into the search bar and then backspace before sending to Google, it's sent to Google and they know about it. It might not seem like a big deal but with the ever intrusive authorities able to poke in and around your private online affairs and subpoena your internet activity, it is not really safe to have Google documenting all. There is also the situation of where multiple users in a house have access to the same computer. In that case, if one is search something illegal, are they all held accountable? All this tracking and spying brings up some potentially awkward scenarios.

Obviously, you can use an incognito window, but mostly that won't work on sites that demand you to be able to accept cookies, sometimes including banks and forums. So basically I would pay for a browser that did not track my online activities so they can later serve me 'relevant' ads.

I heard Google Chrome really uses a lot of memory since 1 tab already occupies memory same as 1 stand-alone program.
I go for Firefox What

Chrome is not very compatible with every type of OS, though maybe your flash program is more to blame than the browser. You might try updating your flash settings or software to see if your experience with Chrome improves.

I would love to recommend Rockmelt browser, as it's a Chrome clone. However, they don't offer the software for download anymore. I'm very lucky to have the browser already installed on one of my older computers. Otherwise, I would not be able to use it either. The browser is so lightweight by comparison to Chrome and very 'Chrome-like', without the lag.

Firefox is a very bloated software. Or, at least it causes my computer to become unresponsive when I try to use it. This could be related to some issue with the Firefox software or my computer but it's made using Firefox impossible.

As much as I want to agree with this, I still use Firefox now for some of my work when I need a unique browser.

I like Google Chrome. Chrome is one of the best browsers.

Ironically, I'm a bigger fan of Chrome clone/imitators than the original Chrome browser.

I was only using Chrome based browsers before but now that I'm using Ubuntu, I only have Firefox. I don't mind it but it's different than what I'm accustomed to.

I really do not care much for Chrome. I used to use it but I think that it really slowed my computer down.

I had been using Firefox on my new computer but it still lags, so I'm trying out Comodo Dragon now on this one and like it a lot.

Firefox and Chrome are too intense for my laptop. I am not able to run either browser anymore. I wish that I could run Chrome as some of my favorite Unity games only run on Chrome.

There is no reason that Chrome should not be running well on your computer unless it is a very old computer. Most likely, you are experiencing a malware/virus infection. Please run a virus scan on your computer. This same thing happened to me before and turned out to be an infection on the computer. You will see how Chrome works much better after you clean up your computer.
