Smelly feet

Does anyone else get smelly feet in the summer? I have never before but this year I am. It is hot here but no matter what I do, the smell is still there. Any recommendations?

Wear breathable cotton socks and dust feet with talcum powder before putting on shoes to soak up excess sweat and keep feet dry.

Spray shoes with a deodorizer or if they're washable, use hot water to kill odour causing bacteria... Naturopathic Doctor Meghan Walker recommends adding a sachet of lavender or cedar chips at night to add a pleasant aroma...

if you don’t suffer from smelly feet, summer can get the better of us.. The increased risk of swimming, going to the gym, and generally being more active, combined with summer heat becomes a disturbing mix...

Smelly feet are caused by bacteria on the skin which breaks down the sweat producing the smell..

Let your shoes air out, meaning do not wear them for two days in a row. Wash your feet daily with a good antibacterial soap as well and use tea bags in shoes between wears.

You get smelly feet in the summer because of the heat and hormone changes. Wear shoes like sandals and flip flops.

Feet powders can help. Although I am not an advocate for self medication, I would suggest that you visit a pharmacy and they will prescribe anti biotic to use if need be. You can also ensure you keep your feet clean and dry always.

It is embarrassing but I have to admit that I used to have bad odor in my feet. We have a term for that - cachichas - which means smelly feet, yuck! But it was somehow cured by my husband. Here is the simple procedure.
1. Wash your feet with soap twice. The first soaping is to cleanse the feet from dirt. The second soaping is to penetrate the bacteria so let the soap stay for 2 minutes on your feet, better if you massage the feet to get more suds.
2. Dry your feet very well. If needed, train an electric fan on your feet so you are sure that they are dried before wearing your slippers or shoes.
3. But wait, before anything else, you have to clean your footwear. Wash with soap and water, if possible, the slippers and shoes. For leather shoes, aerate it outside and place under the sun for at least an hour or so. That is to kill the bacteria.
4. If you are sure that your footwear is sanitized, okay, go ahead with your life.

PS. This is a home remedy that you can repeat if the odor recurs.

It can happens, and yes summer gets the best of it. So first step, wash your shoes, socks and sandals, if those are still dirty and smelly, doesn't matter how good you clean your feet. Add a little big of vinegar on the last rinse water. Wash your feet with a mix of bicarbonate/baking soda and soap, and sometimes you can add some lemon juice. That will be magic. Also, put some deodorizer on your shoes and feet. That will make them look fresh after a whole day working.

A deodorizing spray is a great idea. there are many brands out there that do the job. Also, baking soda does wonders to eliminate odors from your shoes. You could also add some to your feet. I think we all suffer from this every once in a while, just make sure to let your shoes out and not keep them in tight spaces.

Deodorizing spray is amazing! I was tired of using those feet powders, they get my feet dusty, my shoes too, and I always make a mess on my room or bathroom. After I started using spray, I noticed the difference, cleaner, affordable, and super practical to travel with. You just put spray on your feet and clean shoes, and that will make the hard work.

I personally find that it all boils down to a combination of good personal hygiene and footwear.

The material of your footwear matters a lot. Starting with the socks, I would recommend cotton socks because cotton breathes the best out of all other materials. Quality shoes are important as well. I have a cheaper pair of Nike shoes and an expensive pair of Patagonia hiking shoes and the contrast is amazing. I can go out for a short walk in my Nike shoes and the smell will be less than pleasant. On the other hand, I can go out for a several hour long hike in my Patagonia shoes and there will be no noticeable odor.

Also as a side note, if your shoes smell I heard that leaving a tea bag in them overnight helps eliminate the odor.

Smelly feet is caused by bacteria. I have experienced it when I borrowed a shoe that was not used for a long time. We attended a sales presentation in another place. When the time came to sleep at night. When I put off my shoe, it really smells so bad. My roommates complains about the bad smell of my feet. There is nothing I could do. Its because of the shoes I borrowed from somebody.
