Hello sanfora,
I can't see any reasons at all to share internet connection with other people than my family or friends, which means, people I trust. I don't think any of my friends or family members would try to hack me even if they knew how to do it. As any hack attempts they do wouldn't benefit them at all, it would actually be the opposite. If they DDoS me or whatever, they would be affected by that action too. With that being said, when would you share internet connection? And why would you share it with random people?

Best Regards,

Sharing your internet connection should only be done with those you trust, like your family or friends, like hitmeasap said.

Sharing your connection is understandable, leaving your connection set to open will just result in your neighbors siphoning your connection and resources. You open connection, just like how starbucks is, will be used by anyone in the area if they can get a strong enough connection. Well, sometimes they will connect any ways and abuse your connection enough to get your ISP (internet service provider) breathing down your back.

I know that I've personally gone to a starbucks and other free wifi places and used their connections to run my software that was resource heavy is sharing internet connection with many people dangerous? I would begin to run my software and then people would complain about the connection slowing down lol. I didn't go there to piss people off, but at the time I didn't have enough money to afford a VPN (virtual private network) where I could just connect to random servers or a VPS (virtual private server) where I could log in and use it like my own computer. Both a VPN and VPS have different IPs than your own and you can hide behind them. I would use the open connection at starbucks or other businesses that offered open connections and I'd get my work done. Now I have a nice VPN and can run my software from home whenever I want is sharing internet connection with many people dangerous?

So in the end, don't share your connection with anyone that isn't family or friends. Don't keep your connection set to open because you could get people like me who use your connection and lag you out of whatever you're doing is sharing internet connection with many people dangerous?

I only share my internet connection with my parents, parents in law and my sister when they come to visit. Nobody else gets access ever. I've never really thought about the security aspect of it, but I just wouldn't share my connection with anyone simply because I can't see a reason why I should.

I do not think that anyone should leave the connection open for any neighbors or passersby to use. The password is not there for nothing - it is there to keep your connection protected, and so it should be used properly to achieve that aim. I give it to any relatives who come to my home so that they will be able to access the internet, because they are people are trust. But other than that I place a lot of importance on maintaining it secure because you never know, and after all you do not want to be paying for someone else using the connection and causing lags.

Hi sanfora thanks for your question. I do not think share your internet to other people may threat for any fraud or hacking . And this possibility very low. If you share your internet by Wi-Fi router, they can just use or browse by using your internet connection. But, it will effect on your internet speed, if many user using same connection at a time. For example, if you have 2GB internet connection speed, and at the same times if, 5 people connect with same network, it will share equally like 409 MB speed can use each person. My internet connection are using more than 10 guys at a time and never see any problem yet either speed fluctuation.

I don't share my internet connection with people other than my family and close friends. When you share your connection with too many people, your connection speed will slow down. When you share connection with people you barely know or strangers, you are also under the risk of identity theft and data theft. Through the shared connection, people might have access to your computers.

Sharing internet connection is dangerous because someone can hack all your passwords and access your personal information. You can still share internet connection and not get hacked. You can do this by avoiding logging in your sensitive accounts and only do other things like writing and researching.

A shared (public) intent connection does potentially expose your information to people who can interpret it. How likely that is... well, I think that tends to be a bit uncommon.

The usual shared internet connection is with the family for the home wifi or colleagues with the office network. However, when you are in a wifi zone like in a mall or restaurant, you are sharing the internet connection with some people who you do not know. But with the issue of hacking, I don’t think there is a way for the hacker to easily enter your system simply because you are on the same network. I know there is a file sharing feature but that also needs you approval. So basically, there is nothing to fear about when using a free network.
