    Why does my mouse keep cutting out!?

    Every now and then, my mouse keeps locking up and disconnecting or something. It makes that noise it makes when you detach a device from your USB or something. It's a wired mouse plugged into one of my USB ports. But every now and then it will lock up and disconnect or something and then reconnect and work fine again. Then about 10 minutes later or sometimes later or sometimes less than that it will do it again.

    I guess I need to check my error reports or something right?
    Or just buy a new mouse?

    I only bought this one a few months ago though.

    What is there I can look at on my computer after this has happened so I can diagnose or see why it keeps happening?

    Sometimes it happens when I bang my desk but sometimes I bang my desk and it doesn't happen. So it can't be forced. Just annoys me right when I'm in the middle of using my mouse for something.

    I have a mouse that keeps doing the same thing. I just replaced it with another one and I dumped it because I assumed it was just faulty. I am sorry I did not come across this discussion before as I would have tried out what you suggested and maybe saved the mouse :/

    I think that already happened to the desktop of my computer. It was a mouse with a ball and not an optical mouse yet. Sometimes it lags as if it has a failing engine. I requested for a replacement and it was delivered on the next day. But the tech in the office did some investigation on my broken mouse. It was the connection problem related to the wiring which causes the loss of control.
