Can You Still Sell Ebooks?

Dear fellow freelancers,
I'm an author of a couple of ebooks and I truly believe that you still can come up with great results as a seller of these (results as in earnings and/or subscribers). No matter the niche. However, as there are more and more totally free information online you can find with just a few simple google searches, do you think people will stop buying ebooks in the nearest future?

Have you ever bought one yourself and why did you buy it? What kind of ebook was it?

I have purchased eBooks before and they were related to money making. Something you should bare in mind is that all those free online resources aren't always as good as paid ebooks because people keep all the useful information as paid resources to make a profit. I have found very useful information in ebooks that are not available on Google.I don't think people will stop buying ebooks in the future as long as the useful information is still hidden. However, people are creating low quality ebooks for money and this is killing the industry as people won't trust ebook sellers anymore.

I think that there needs to be more importance placed on the quality of ebooks that are sold. This might help to keep ebooks' standards high. I agree that there are several 'writers' who just write useless stuff and hope to sell. These are affecting the market negatively as they may lead to a good number of people not trusting ebook writers, which is a pity as there are many good ones out there. Maybe there could be some sort of authority that evaluates ebooks' quality and level before they are allowed to be sold.

I've bought so many ebooks its ridiculous Can You Still Sell Ebooks? I like buying ebooks because they're relatively cheap and I don't have to do all the research myself. I look at it as a class I'm paying a few dollars for and if I already know 99% of everything in the book I'll still be satisfied because that one little tip or trick will help me out later in life and it's well worth the few dollars I spent. I actually bought an ebook quite recently because my client couldn't figure something out with the code on their website. I bought the ebook because it went over exactly the same problem my client was having with their website. My client pays me monthly so I didn't mind spending a few bucks on the ebook to figure out the steps to take in order to help them out Can You Still Sell Ebooks?

I do buy a wide range of ebooks, mainly for online purposes, but I have bought ebooks for particular things in my life that I needed a little bit of knowledge for. For instance, back when I was in college I was going for Zoology and Herpetology (the study of reptiles, not herpes) and I couldn't remember something and couldn't find it anywhere online. But this ebook I found mentioned that it covered a specific topic that I needed to read up on, so I bought it.

If you're trying to sell an ebook you'll need to find the right market/niche. There are tons of "How To" books out there but that doesn't mean it's saturated. You can literally pick any niche and do a "How To" book on any aspect of the niche. If I were you, and if you're starting a new book, I would find a niche that I know enough about and write an ebook on it. This way you don't have to do as much research on the topic and you can hammer out the pages pretty quick. And since you already like the niche, it'll feel like it went by super quick Can You Still Sell Ebooks?

I'm glad you bought a book about herpes. No, I mean reptiles. Can You Still Sell Ebooks?

I do understand your point and I agree with everything you've said. I won't launch anything new at this moment but I actually have a few ideas in mind. All of them obviously in a niche I know of.

I don't think people will ever stop to purchase ebooks, as it's information. Even if you can find 99% of the information for free online, there's that 1% you mentioned. That 1% is always worth the purchase, at least in my opinion. However, I've bought re-hashed crap like a billion times, and it's not that fun to have 3 different ebooks, from 3 different authors, in the same niche, where the content is 99.5% exactly the same..

Yes I know what you mean, I think so many people rehash rubbish to try and get subscribers or because they have bought the eBook of purpose of reselling, what is the name for that again? PLR?

That I find really annoying!

I have written my own eBook which I give away on one of my websites to gain subscribers and it is working well for me.

I do plan on writing more eBooks to sell and hope to get there soon.

I do believe there is a market for unique and quality content.

I understand your concern, however I firmly believe that there is a market for ebooks, and it will remain so even in the future, because despite the fact that one can look up some information online, you won't get to find everything and anything. When an ebook is well written it is going to be more informative and helpful, and so it will still get sold. The key I believe is to retain prices as competitive as possible so as no to discourage buyers.

Yes I also think there will always be a need for eBooks. I love them and have lots of them. It is different to searching online. Plus it is also about the author. If I enjoy an author I will search for his or her website and search out more books or eBooks that I can get hold of.

INformation is free on the internet, therefore, it is quite difficult to sell information. However, if the information you are going to provide is not easily available on the internet or related information is not available, you have a chance of making money by publishing information in ebook format. In order to drive ebook sales, your ebook content should be original and unique. you also need to market your ebook on the right platforms.

My take on e-books at present is that there is an influx of writers. The rate of growth of the number of writers had left behind the rate of growth of readers. But I think it is just a trend that will fade sooner or later which means the writers will be fewer and the readers will be more. When that time comes I guess it would be the right timing to publish your e-book.
