How do people get others to donate to their Gofundme campaign?

I was actually looking to post something on KickStarter which is similar to GoFundMe. I was doing extensive research because I knew that if I just posted something there was a slim chance it would get funded unless I already had buzz about it.

What I learned.

If you don't have a list of interested investors already, you won't see much success with your campaign. You won't see much success, if any, if you don't have a list because you're basically starting from scratch. I learned that a lot of successful campaigns are working on them prior to even launching. They will have a website up and running which it's sole purpose is to capture emails. To generate traffic to this email capture website they will usually run campaigns using facebook advertising platform. If you can get your CPC (cost per click) down low enough then your price per acquisition will be maybe $1. That means you can get 1 click that converts into a sign up or 100 clicks and obtain a sign up but each cost a total of $1. Some people running GoFundMe and KickStarter campaigns will spend $300 to $500 per campaign in order to obtain enough emails.

After you have the emails, you can now email them when your page on GoFundMe is ready. But before you blast out to them, you need to make a detailed page and that includes a high quality video explaining everything. You can't just put up a $5 white board video because that won't make you much, you need to get personal and show who you are. A high quality video combined with real people talking and showing prototypes of what you want to make or just saying why you need funding will go a long way compared to a white board video

Hopefully you take your time on setting up your page before you email everyone you captured from facebook. Usually the response rate of the emails is pretty high since they were already interested.

I also read that if you don't have the majority of your funding within 72 hours, you won't have a very successful campaign. I don't know how true this is, but the guy who wrote the book I read has had plenty of successful campaigns

Razzy great answer! Breaking down what the estimated acquisition cost could be is important! As the saying goes, "It takes Money to Make Money." Knowing what the acquisition cost is could show you that you need to triple what you thought you needed to raise.

Here is another way to get the ball rolling raising money; good old fashion telemarketing. I know a total pain but it works. Many companies donate significant monies to reduce tax liabilities. Additionally, having the ability to speak with the decision maker and articulate your pitch is priceless. That being said, my business/attorney and friend confided in me that he donates 10M+ per year to accredited charities. If you can get some of the bigger donors to donate a respectful amount you just may hit your goal. Always ask them to spread the word about your campaign to their friends and colleagues even if they don't donate. While I never tried to raise money on a KickStarter type website, it is my experience that raising money isn't easy and will take money and work to succeed.

I'm not even close to be an expert on gofundme or any of these crowdfunding sites.. But I will give you an answer to this, from my perspective at least.

First of all.. Have you ever heard of the bus monitor? - I guess you have?

I don't have all the details right now and I won't bother with them too much either. However, this went huge and viral, because of one man. He created a campaign and wished that they could raise enough money for a vacation.. The results was insane.

And why is that..?

First of all, they did some advertising. They shared the campaign on whatever social media they could. And it went totally nuts because what happens to that woman is terrible. The campaign went straight into people hearts and people felt for this woman..

So, with all that said.. What should you do..?

First of all, share your campaign on Facebook and twitter.. And all those other social media platforms.

Ask your friends and relatives to donate, like, share and comment. As with anything in business, the first order is the hardest one. In this scenario it is, the first donation.

That's about all I can give you. Share this with everyone you can. That's the only way you'll get exposure.

That video is very distasteful. Could you imagine being this woman and getting bullied on the bus by little children? I am glad someone started a campaign about this, this woman deserves more than to get bullied. It's hard to be a bus monitor because of the ignorance of a select few of obnoxious children. My heart goes out for this lady.

Yeah, that event is horrible. I would probably smack these kids around a bit before I threw them out of the bus. I hate people doing things like this.. Judging people because of their looks, clothes or anything else similar to this.. I hate it and I can't stand to see something like this.

I love the fact that this bus monitor got A LOT of cash, due to the crowdfunding. She deserved it!

I think that it is not just about starting it there and expect to get results shortly after. You need to do some background work, both before as well as during the campaign has been launched on Gofundme or similar site. You need to get people who know about your project, and you need to take the time to make them get interested in it so as to encourage them to make a donation. So advertising and social media marketing are of the essence here, as well as other ways which can help you target people who could really be interested in whatever you are trying to offer.

I think it maybe also depends very much on the type of project that you are doing.

I just last night read a very interesting article in one of our local magazines that I buy every single week and there was an article in there about a woman that has lost about 80kgs. She has an eating disorder and she shared about the way that she overcame her problems and what she would advise other people to do if they are in the same position.

I really enjoyed the article because she gave really good advice for other people. I think a reason that I was interested in this article is because eating disorders is a form of addiction and I am a recovering addict.

Anyway let me get to the point here, at the end the article mentioned that she has now lost the weight in a healthy way, she has changed her lifestyle but she has all those loose skin that cannot be completely rectified naturally. She has a GoFundme Campaign and the details were there. I am going to donate some money to her cause.

I think the reason for your campaign is really important and using a tactic like this might work really well for you?

This is all great stuff but all I need is a little help to keep from being homeless no one has donated not one dime. and now tomorrow morning me and my family will be set out in the street with no where to go with no money. I cant help it that i got injuried. The doctor placed me on disability. MY hands are tied waiting on my payments.All I need is 2.000.00.it will help me make it l my first payment. So can any one help.

Do you have family members nearby? Would they be willing to take your family in? Any friends, or friends of friends that will allow for you all to stay there until you can get those payments? I'm sure there is some kind of program out there near where you live that could possibly help. Many others, and even some top sellers of this marketplace have been exactly where you're at.

In fact, I've rebuilt myself from the ground up, so just know that whatever happens, when you pull through, and you will, know that you will rise from ashes like a phoenix and it'll make you stronger.

I am sorry but I dont have any family that can take us in, we came from NYC, by way of VA . We dont have any where to go nore do we have any monies to pay for anything. I am disable and i used up our savings on the bills to keep afloat. We just need a little help.
