I suspect you started as a freelancer a couple of years ago. You started pretty much from nothing but basic skills and you have grown and developed over the years.
You are now capable of handling multiple projects in your own niche and area of skills, you have a nice list of long-term clients and somehow you also find room for new ones and short partnership.
Maybe you even reached a point where you have your own web pages that produce an important part of your online income. Because of this you also start hiring other freelancers to reach your desired goals and maybe even outsource some of your services.
In essence, you are a successful freelancer! You work from the comfort of your own home, making your own schedule and being your own boss, to top everything off you also earn a decent amount of money from all of this, a lot more than your friends and family members, it doesn’t really get better than this when it comes to freelancing.
But would you give it all up?
Would you accept a job in a successful web development agency?
Let’s offered salary is a half of what you earn but working a 9-5 job gives you plenty of time to do some freelancing on the side and you will probably end in the same place from a profit point of view.
Would you do such a transition? I think that having direct working experience in a real agency goes a long way in my opinion; it’s like a safety net. I personally don’t want to reach 30 years of age and the only experience I have on my CV would be freelance, I need additional experience that will ensure getting a real job position.
What about you, are you afraid of the future? Do you think having real work experience matters? Would you want to freelance all your life?

Anyway, I think that the security blanket of having a 9 to 5 is a good thing, but if I'm making more than I could at the day job I would stay working as a freelancer. If a company can't match what I'm currently earning then there's really no point to sign the contract to have a boss when I can do it all myself with less stress. The only benefit of working for a company is that you don't have to do everything, which can get tedious at times. There have been certain situations where I just get completely swamped with work and there aren't enough hours in the day for me to finish what's needed. And this is with the freelancer pals I have in my pool of talent. They'll have a lot of work on their hands and can't take on any overflow from me, so now I have to do it myself. But I love it since I don't have to tell a boss that I'm behind
One of the biggest things that I don't like is that I would most likely have to travel. I've actually been offerred some pretty nice jobs to just do optimization for a companies website. I was going to get paid salary, have benefits, 2 weeks paid vacation, and possibly a company car... but I couldn't travel because it would be too much to uproot my family and go across the country for a job I might only be at for a year
I don't think I could give up the freelancer lifestyle, I'm too addicted lol
