Feature Suggestion: Make All Self Claimed SEOs Take a 100 Question SEO Test

This idea came about following on from Razzy's thread on Should we still title ourselves as SEO's? Because a lot of people class themselves as "SEOs" or "SEO Experts" on SEOClerks. But how can you really know? How can you tell?

When it comes to SEO you want to hire the right person for the job. Someone with the true skills, experience and knowledge in and of SEO.

One way of sort of "sorting the men from the boys" would be to make people who claim to be an SEO on SEOClerks (whether as listed as a skill or selling an SEO service) is to make people answer a series of questions on SEO. With each question being multiple choice and getting harder and harder as they go on. Then finally the score rate shown on the sellers profile.

So if there was 100 questions and the person got 50/100 right then it would show something on their profile like SEO Course Score: 50/100.

It would have to be built into SEOClerks somehow I guess and is probably a mammoth task. But it could have a lot of valuable and practical benefits.

First for the buyers who are buying SEO services, they could see from the score of that test that they know a lot about SEO. And for the seller as well who does and can show that on his/her profile to give buyers, more confidence they are the right one for the job.

I think it would be a cool feature but not make it mandatory for everyone. Because SEO is made up of so many different things, you don't have to know a lot about SEO and all the different things there is to it and that go with it to know one or two of those things and be good at doing them.

But it would have to be set so that they could only answer the question once. So you'd have to make sure you know the answer before you submit it as there's no going back and retaking the course again. Although perhaps that could be an option too?

The questions could start real simple and fairly easy at first but then get harder and harder with like scientific diagrams and formulas or stuff like that for the later questions that only a true professional SEO would know.

But their score would show on their profile letting people know how much they do actually know about SEO and whether or not what they say when they say something like "I am an SEO expert with 10 year SEO experience" you'd be able to see just how true that is from the answer of their SEOClerks SEO Test.

What do you think of this feature?
I love it lol. There are so many people out there that claim to be in the SEO field for 5, 10 or even 15 years (myself included) and this would show if they were actually paying attention for those years and implementing theories and testing methods.

Would you take the test?
Hell Yeah I would I'm already worried because I panic a bit under pressure, so I may not do as well as I hope, but I'll still get an A on the test I would hope

Mandatory, No. I think it would be better to have it as an optional feature, but it should show up on the sellers profile and service page that they have not taken the test yet, if they haven't.

It definitely would. It might actually hurt the sales on SeoClerks because sellers wouldn't want to take the test. The good thing about this is that people who are buying will know that the person they are buying from has taken a test to prove they know what they're doing. Anyone can buy software and set it up to run a campaign, but if that person doesn't really know what they're doing it's just going to hurt the rankings of the clients website


In the end I think this would be a great feature, but it should definitely be optional. And I think that people should be able to take the test twice, maybe. I know that even on the ACT you can take it as many times as you want but anything after 2 gets averaged. Maybe it could work like that? But even then people will write down the questions, research them, and input the correct answers to get that 100%. This could be the way around it since people can make multiple accounts if they want and just keep doing the test until they get all the questions right

This is the best feature development idea for SEOclerks I've read in a long time, Mike!
I fully agree with the implementation of such a feature. I would really want potential buyers to actually understand and make a difference between real SEO with tons of experience and sellers that could hardly type in English, no to mention the SEO skills.
Sure, I will take such a text and time anywhere, sign me in!

And no, I don't think the test should be mandatory. Some people offering their services here on SC are not really SEOs, maybe they are content builders or whatever.

Anyways, I don't think we should stop here with such an idea. Maybe SC should implement multiple testes, like one for writers, one for data entries, one for programmers, designers, social media experts and so on. Evolve this marketplace into something more. I've seen similar features on Upwork and I think its freaking great!

YES and NO!... YES Specially after reading some creepy offers at "Want to buy" sections where so many people call them selves experts, while i bet most of them have less then average knowledge about SEO or social media marketing, etc...

I have done tests like this long ago while i was freelancing at Elance.com and it was good thing to see, and not sooo easy to pass 100% but in some cases even 70% was like good sign that you dealing with someone knowledgeable.

In other hand... Since most of these wannabe experts know about their low level of expertise, they would probably look for way around where someone else can do the test for them in order to get good ratings. So it can be difficult to code such good and trustable test page i guess.

Perhaps, service and sellers ratings and recommendations can tell us enough about sellers and services. I know it's not so accurate, but how accurate can test be, it's also the question...

Anyway, it would be nice to see some leveling of experts in some way of ranking too.

This is a cool suggestion!
I wouldn't make anything like this mandatory but I would definitely make this optional. And why? - If this was mandatory.. Well, let's face it. SEOClerks would probably end up losing a bunch of "SEO Experts". Seriously speaking. Not all of these seo experts are experts even if they claim themselves to be. As something optional, this could instead increase the credibility of the experts. And the seo experts that truly are experts, they would benefit by doing this test.

I reject this suggestion for these TWO reasons:
(1). This is surely going to make many seo sellers to run away from this site because not all of them are actually offering their services themselves. when they get any order , sometimes they lease it out to other professional sellers on fiverr, gigbucks etc and resell at a much higher prices on seoclerks
(2). It is something that is NOT COMMON to all freelance sites like fiverr, zerks, gigbucks, fourerr, fiverup and many others. Note that seoclerks makes lots of profits from the sellers mainly dut to the % charge on affiliate and sales. if it is introduced, many new sellers coming to do trade here will run to other sites, hence this site will lose competition to other freelance sites. seoclerks is not the only site offering freelance services. NOTE: most sellers on this site are also offering services on other sites too.
BE CAREFULL!!!
Seoclerks will LOSE a lost of sellers if they introduce this.

I don't think SC will lose that much, sellers as you think it will. Probably just some low quality sellers that SC doesn't need anyway. Resellers will stick around, believe me, if they already making a good profit here they'll stick around and adapt to the new features.

The way I see it, sellers are disposable, they need to adapt and deliver quality services only. Buyers are the real focus of SC and as long as buyers are on the rise, SC will thrive.

SC needs both the high quality and low quality sellers to make thier profit from this site,.it is more beneficial in terms of profit if both are operating than when only high-quality sellers are operating, so it will be very FOOLISH if SC staffs decides to introduce any policy that will scare any low quality sellers. THE MARKET SHOULD BE FREE AND OPEN FOR EVERYBODY. Low quality sellers can become high quality sellers one day.
Even at the end of the day, the high quality ones will still prevail because they will get good positive reviews which will attract more and more buyers to them, unlike the low quality ones.
the low quality ones will be somehow frustrated and will want to upgrade to compete with the high quality ones for buyers. those that dont want to upgrade or improve will faze out with time.

I think this is an excellent idea! However like I mentioned previously in Razzy's discussion I think that there should be more than one test and each test could be about one aspect of SEO.

The truth is that there is so much that goes into SEO and some sellers here specialize in certain aspects and don't cover anything else.

I can't see how it would benefit someone that offers for example content writing services to write a test covering everything about SEO and then having a 20/100 showing on their profile. However if there is a test that covers content writing exclusively then that seller could take that test and have that showing on his or her profile.

But yes as an idea for a feature here at SeoClerks YES, I think it is brilliant. I would certainly love to see sellers have certifications on their profiles. It would make life so much easier for me.

Oohh and some more thoughts on this topic! I think this would be amazing for Level 1 sellers that have extensive SEO knowledge but are struggling to be noticed. If they have done the certification test and that shows on their profile I think that would make such a difference.

Another thing that I would be interested in, is could buyers also take the test? I would be very interested to know what my scores are in different aspects of SEO and I might at some stage like to offer some services. I would find it helpful for me to see how I measure up personally against a seller here, it would help me make the decision over whether it is more viable for me to do the work myself or if I would be better off just purchasing a service to get the job done
