Banner advertising platforms. Which do you use and which do you prefer?

A lot of us will use Adwords and Bing/Yahoos PPC platforms, but not as many of us have ventured over to the banner advertising platforms such as BuySellAds.

Have you ever tried BSA or are you sticking with the PPC type ads provided by the major search engines?

I've been using BSA and I haven't had any problems with them since I started. Sure, some of the ad spots and CPM spots are ridiculously expensive, but it's understandable. I've read that BSA inflates their numbers so that more advertisers pay for slots on the publishers websites, but that could just be the publisher inflating their traffic by using traffic exchanges or bots. I doubt that BSA would do that because if they were ever caught it would ruin their entire business.

One company I'm using, publicityclerks, to push my banners has around 100 publishers and they all boast some pretty amazing statistics. One of the ads I purchased was for around 750k to 800k impressions and it only cost me $20. I would have been stupid not to purchase this placement lol. I thought I was just extremely lucky and saw an opening right as someone else forgot to renew their payments. I bought the ad spot before I even had a banner made, that's how eager I was to get it. So after I got my banner and uploaded it, I almost immediately was getting impressions and clicks. I'm coming to the end of my first month advertising on this website and I have had 745k impressions and 16,516 clicks.

I should be making like $3,000 to $5,000 a month off of this ad spot, right?

Well I've looked through my tracking and I haven't gotten a single sale from this website and I even looked to see if it was referred by the platform, and nothing shows.

So I came to the conclusion that this website is just inflating it's numbers to get people to purchase advertising space from month to month and they aren't providing any real value to it's advertisers.

Have you used any banner advertising platform?
What is you opinion on them?

Thanks,

Razzy

Well that doesn't sound like such a great offer then Razzy is it? I mean we all want traffic and clicks but those mean absolutely nothing when you look at the fact that you have no sales from that traffic.

I have not really used banner advertising platforms before but I am keen to start with this method at some stage. I have been a bit nervous to get started with it though because like you have just pointed out, so many websites can inflate their numbers and make it seem like it is a great deal when in fact you make nothing from it.

I would love to heard what other members here have to say about banner advertising.

What about going directly to the seller of the banner space? You can find a lot of webmasters selling their banner ad space directly on webmaster forums and other types of related marketplaces.

I always thought their prices should be a lot cheaper compared with pay per click advertising platforms like Adwords. The only problem is finding the right websites with the right kind of real honest traffic that actually converts well for you. But once you find such a website, you can place your ads their long term and everyone loves a long term deal.

That could work well. In my experience, people who are on forums selling ad space on their websites usually ask too much for the amount of traffic they're getting. I've also checked out DP for some ad space on websites but they amount of traffic they get is extremely low and I don't want to risk $2+ per measure on an extremely low traffic website Banner advertising platforms. Which do you use and which do you prefer?

The only advertising I have ever used is facebook ads. I used facebook ads to promote my product and services. I did get a lot of traffic for my product and service, however, my facebook ad capaign was unable to generate the desired sales. Therefore, I am thinking to try another platform. I am considering Adwords because I have $150 worth free credits. I have heard about buy sell ads but I am yet to try this ad network.

I think I will have to stick to the PPC type since that has helped me made some sales. In as much as I like changing things, doing so at this stage is not what I think of.
