    Youtuber or Streamer = Freelancer? - What do you think?

    Most of us should be aware of famous Youtubers and Twitch streamers. Most of us are probably even following some of these people. However, I wonder if one could say that these people are freelancers? - What's your thoughts on this?

    Freelancers according to most people are people that make money online by selling services or products. People with large email lists who promotes others products are also considered freelancers as they make money by affiliate programs and such.

    That being said, most famous youtubers and twitch streamers are affiliated to g2a, kinguin etc. (Websites you buy games from.) - And they make a passive income by doing that. - Is it safe to say that these people are freelancers too, or should one still call them youtubers or streamers?

    I play a good amount of video games and wreck youtubers and streamers lol.

    I would most definitely consider them as freelancers. They're setting up a system that makes them money by using their skills in game to push products they don't own themselves. I know there are at least a few gamers who are making over 1mil a year just by playing games and then streaming them to youtube or twitch. Now they do play a lot of tournaments and get paid a good amount of the winnings if they do win, but I'm sure they're also making a killing from their affiliate sales as well Youtuber or Streamer = Freelancer? - What do you think?

    I would love to be a popular streamer so I could just play video games all day and get paid for it. But sadly I'm only about an 8 out of 10 on the skill level for the games I play. I can compete with some of the top players, but not too often. My game has to be on point and I have to have a good team behind me in case I need support Youtuber or Streamer = Freelancer? - What do you think?


    But in the end, anyone who is setting up their own systems in order to make money online, I would consider them as a freelancer. I definitely consider them businessmen/women and entrepreneurs because they are making money doing something they love Youtuber or Streamer = Freelancer? - What do you think?

    Personally I would consider them as freelancers. It is after all a way to make money online and they are offering a service that is quite in demand. Moreover, they are managing to put their passion or talent in that field to very good use. They are doing something that they are good at and that they really like, and lucky them, they are earning quite some money from it. So these can actually be considered as good role models for those who aspire to become freelancers. The more you like doing something, the better you are going to be at it and the more fun it is going to be!

    You can't say exactly that a Freelacer has to sell strictly SEO / Website based serviced to be considered a freelancer. I would classify that earn money online by whatever means. He can be blogger, webdeveloper, webmaster, virtual assistant, seo consultant it doesn't really matter as long as money are involved and the jobs are carried out online, then yeah you are a Freelancer.

    Regarding Youtuber, I can dig the videoblogging because it's funny and entertaining but why on earth would you like to watch how someone is playing a game.

    I think the term "YouTuber" actually archived professional status in recent years. I won't really call them freelancers, more of some sort of independent content creators, the most popular of them had reached celebrity status just like a musician or an actor.

    The only difference would be they started independently and grown over the years reaching a point when they started to sign contracts with certain agency that take care of legal and financial problems but also advice them about certain problems they get themselves into, just like real actors and musicians take care of their "public image".

    I would think that they are freelancers. I consider myself a freelancer although technically I am a blogger. I have loads of different sources of income, including Youtube income although it is not a massive amount of money each month.

    Even if they have signed a contract with someone for a product or whatever that they are promoting they are not an employee of that company and they didn't have to sign that contract. Same like some freelancer's may sign a contract too.

    They are on their own mission, making money in their own way, so yes I think it classifies as freelancing.

    I thought a freelancer was just someone who worked for himself and did his own thing as far as business goes. I don't think these guys went from YouTube video hosts to freelancer by selling games also. They have been freelancers the second they started offering a service or show for people to enjoy or learn from. Freelancer to me is someone who will make a buck out of a penny. Someone who works for themselves who can always see the light even in a dark situation. I would say its safe to call them entrepreneurs and freelancers. They have a business mind rather than a 9-5 mind. Thanks for sharing!

    In my opinion, I would say that those people can be termed as freelancer in the process considering that what they do is all about making money from clients on the internet and nothing more about it

    One friend did a personal survey on the popular Youtubers but on the local side only which means celebrities like Justin Bieber was not included. Anyway, most of the Youtube stars here are not freelancers. They are just simple uploaders of their video. One such star is Maine Mendoza who was called Yaya Dub because of her dubsmash videos. If you remember dubsmash, that’s just about 6 seconds of video where you lip synch the audio hence it is called such. Maine landed on tv because of her short videos and now she is a tv star. Again, she is not a freelancer.

    Well, this is a kind of full-time job with a full employment schedule. Still, this implies a lot of time to prepare the material and rehearse many moments, as well as the skills of playing games. It's not a bit easier than what some developer from a video games company is doing. I think you should think about it more.
