    Stay at home parent and freelancing

    Being a stay at home parent is a difficult job in it's own right even though many may not see it that way. Having jobs such as washing dishes, washing clothes, cleaning floors, cooking, getting the kids ready for school, getting them to school are all jobs that can have tiring affects on any parent, add freelancing to that job and things can get quite hectic quite quickly. The key to be able to manage freelancing whilst being a stay at home parent is to first get yourself into a routine. Everyone needs a routine to prevent stress. Another thing to think about is to sit your kids down and speak with them, get them to understand that whilst you are looking after them and doing jobs around the home you also have another job to do as well to make a little more money to be able to treat them more and give them more. It's about getting a routine that everyone is happy with to keep a happy home.

    If you are a stay at home parent who is also a freelancer how do you juggle the two? Do you have a set routine? If so how long did it take you to get into that routine and get it to stick?

    I've been full-time freelancers and things aren't pretty. Especially after of few years of the same old routine. At least having a day job at an office can be challenging, I even value little conflicts with my co-workers now. Woking by yourself and trying to keep a schedule is hard, I can only imagine how hard things can get when you also have kids running around which you need to take care off, you can basically be distracted every minute which isn't good when you are trying to deliver a certain task for an important client.

    In this modern times, time management is very important. Life is fast paced and we cannot do all our chores if we do not know how to balance work with other endeavors. That is the usual predicament of working mothers particularly those with young children to take care of. If you can make a daily schedule then your day may be easier and you can be more effective in what you are doing.

    I work from home for now and it hasn't been easy running the home and my online jobs but I get by. What I know that helps me is to scheduled time for everything and I work strictly with the rules.I don't allow unplanned stuff to take away my preplanned schedules.

    When I started freelancing, the only thing that I had to insert on my schedule was taking my child to school which is a few minutes walk from home. I already had the other household duties on schedule when I was still working and they pretty much remained the same. We have a stay-in house help who does most of the chores during the day and I didn't feel the need to drop her services when I quit my regular job because I was also running a business and had to report for a part time job some days of the week. I don't think that I can focus on working at home if I still have to cook, wash dishes, and clean the house. The house help's salary is well worth it because her presence allows me to earn more and live a quality life.

    I am a freelancer and I work from home. Everything worked perfectly until I got married. After I married, my social obligations increased and I had to give time to my wife and take interest in household work. This created a distractions ibn my freelancing work. However, the distraction increased even more when my son was born. Now I am staying at home parent more than work from home freelancer.
