Why is the Want to Buy so full of spam?

I have some suggestion regarding WTB category. There has to be some quality control in this section also.
I have noticed many 'newbie' place their bid in this section. For example the client is requiring something specific, but the bids are completely out of context (specially from new sellers). I am quite sure potential clients will get 'irritated' by these out of context bids which is not a good sign for growth of SeoClerks. For instance, if a buyer wants an article written but a seller is bidding for Youtube likes? How can we stop this?

Hello,

Thanks for your question.
I would suggest Ionicware make 10 sales requirement to bid in WTB section.
When sellers reach 10 sales. They will be able to bid in WTB. If they still do.
They will be punished. To make 10 sale requirement. It will stop newbie to bid in WTB.

All the best,

I agree with this statement whole heartedly. I am a power buyer and when i create the WTB the spam of other services is bad. I mainly deal in the YouTube side, I could only imagine what the rest of you are going through.

Thanks for agreeing with me.

I look forward Ionicware to make it happen.

All the best,

This seems like a good idea. We have plans to allow buyers to restrict who can bid by level. For example, you could select an option that allowed only Level 2+ or Level 3+ users to bid. Thoughts?

Great suggestion Robertman11! Restriction by Level would be the best and the easiest to implement. As the person mentioned, i also got irritated a lot of times and simply stopped using the WTB section. Finally, if we get rid of this type of SPAM, it can actually start working properly.

Level 2+ should be enough though... Why is the Want to Buy so full of spam?

I agree totally. I am often put off making a proper bid, just because of all the spam
bids that have already been made.

I really can’t see someone new to SEOClerks being very impressed with lots of spam
offers, and I know that if I were a buyer, I would give up after the first few irrelevant
offers, and just not bother with SEOClerks again.

I like the idea of having to have completed 10 orders before you can bid. How about going
a bit further and making it 10 completed orders in the category relevant to the WTB?

At least then a bidder would have to have some kind of relevant track record before they can make a bid.

I do not frequent the Want to Buy section that much so I am a bit out of the loop as to what goes on there. A previous user had mentioned that a new user must have 10 sales to be able to bid, however why not just make it to where they have to be level 2?

The thing about the Want to Buy section is that many new users use that feature to upgrade their user level quickly by bidding on Want to Buy ads and hoping the buyer chooses their bid. Every site that has a level/rank system gets spammed by users that want to quickly upgrade their account so it's fairly common practice.

However, if there were to be restrictions this would result in buyers having to wait additional time for more established sellers to bid on their ad. As a buyer, especially on this marketplace, you want to find a seller as quickly as you can. I suggest a feature to report certain want to buy bids, like the option to report a want to buy ad itself. I do not think the marketplace should limit users from bidding on ads placed by buyers that want a service.

I also haven't placed a want to buy ad in so long I forgot what features the WTB creator has.. lol

I totally agree as well, As in the past I have placed stuff into the WTB section and get a lot of it filling up with non related items for bids. If ok to mention as well spam needs to be sorted through inbox meaning if there will be a way in the future to block that would be handy. As some sellers see you buying and leaving feedback from services and then all of a sudden a lot of newbies send inbox's telling me to buy backlinks... It gets annoying as if I need backlinks I would look for this service I don't need inbox's telling me to do anything.

Does anyone else get random inbox spammy messages. ??

I get spammy inbox messages on occassion. I never reply to them, and simply archive the message. If they contact me again I'll most likely report it, or archive their message again. They don't pester me too much, and hopefully I am not pestered in the future. *knocks on wood* This is where a block feature could in handy as well, but the marketplace doesn't have this option.

Well maybe in the future we will see this feature on seoclerks. Here's hoping.

Also I have noticed I always thought with the WTT is to actually trade services you always get members trying to sell you stuff on there as well. A while ago I was going to trade twitter retweets for something can't remember as it was a while ago. But I wanted to trade and had members saying " Buy subscribers from me " I didn't want to buy anything let alone subscribers .

Thanks for the suggestion and reporting. I posted this above in response to aqibarif74 but will post again here:

My take on those suspected spam on the want-to-buy posts is the lack of English knowledge or maybe there is a language barrier. Most of the newcomers to this site think that this marketplace is a mine of gold since there are far too many buyers that they can sell their product or service. Unfortunately some of those newbies have no product or service to sell but just fence sitting, so to speak.
