I am a professional writer and a hobbyist designer. However, I sometime hire a freelancer to work for me. I hire writers as well as designers,. Recently, I hired a writer to write me 25 articles. I also hired a designer to design three logos for me. When I was looking for a freelancer to work for me, some of the questions I asked the potential freelancers were:
How much will you charge?
When will you fin finish?
Will you claim your work even after you are paid?

The cost of the service is the most important question when you are hiring someone to do work whether it is online or offline work. A freelance writer is amenable to the pay that the hiring person would offer provided it is up to the standard and not a pay for a sweat shop, so to speak. But I wonder the need for the 3rd question to ask if the writer will lay claim to the work when he was already paid. I think that is yours already because you had paid for it.

Cost of service is an important point to consider. However, you should always compare the cost with the quality. Generally speaking, those who are charging high are usually delivering high quality work. The cost of service also depends on the location of freelancer. If you hire an Indian writer you can get the best article for $5, however, to get the same quality you might have to pay $10 for an American writer

I particularly seek to ask about the writer's experience with a certain subject that I need to produce. I usually ask for some sample content to make sure the copywriter really dominates the subject. Subsequently I also try to ask about price, deadline and payment options for production.

Yeah, essential questions are experience and a portfolio while hiring a freelance writer. You made some really great points with a price and payment option because budget is also important in hiring.

I always find your post informative. It is essential to know the experience of the freelance writer. we should know whether he/she has worked in similar niche before. The main thing is we need to know if he/she is interested towards the niche.

I have dealt with Freelancer.com for a long period of time and the questions above are a crucial part of the deal. Reviews are also important to check but you can give newbies the benefit of doubt to prove their expertise. Agreement of work is also important to settle at before anything is done, otherwise, you might end up disappointed for work you actually paid for. Beware of scammers too as they are everywhere nowadays, the like that tell you to purchase gift cards for payment or that they need state of the art samples first. Either way freelancing is an awesome means of generating income.

Well, I made it an habit to write most of these points in my job post when I am looking for a freelancer. Indicate you want someone with relevant experience to the service you are requesting. Ask the bidding freelancer to indicate hos turn-around time. Ask them their time-zone so as to align it with yours and pick the perfect time to communicate.

I don't know whether it is I or some of my freelance writers do this too. I detest too much unnecessary questions from clients. I have my samples attached to my profile. I do have links to my live online articles which I show to clients on request and then I written the categories to which I write. I also try as much as possible to answer questions regarding experience, pricing and time delivery. Anything beyond that just puts me off.

I never hired Freelancers but If it happens for me to do it I think the most important questions I would ask them would be, For exaple How long would you take to finish my work?? And For sure I would give them enough time because lots of pressure can result into bad Contents then I would ask them the price These would be my main question to ask a freelancer.

I hire freelancers only very rarely. I prefer to do all my works by myself. I spent a lot of time learning about SEO. However there are certain tasks which are really time consuming and I prefer to outsource the job. Normally before hiring someone I do a test with them and hire them only if they pass the test.

I guess the sample content would tell everything about the freelance writer. In one website publication of articles about the movie industry, the editor would give applicants a written exam which is actually writing a sample article based on a given topic – there were actually 3 topics to choose from. The applicant has to write a short article of less than 500 words, I think. The editor said that from that output, you can already say if the writer is okay or not.
