What do you think is the best way to organize a blog's content?

I'm an amateur writer. I have a blog since I was a teenager. I'm passionate about so many things that it's always hard to me to decide about what do I want to write. I thinks it's not good to have random content in your blog. I've seen that blogs about a certain topics are more succesful because it makes people feel more identified and become regular readers.
Do you think I should choose a specific topic to write about?

No. Write as much as you can. Your audience will grow up if the contents are good enough.

Exactly, random but quality content beats consistency but crappy write-ups any day.

I say continue doing what you are doing OP, the best way to be a better writer is to practice writing and the topic doesn't matter as long as you are willing to write about it.

I have a long time plan to create my own blog hence I did a research. First, your blog should have a theme, right? Let's say the theme is about clothes. With the organization of the blog, it's best to have the titles that are relevant to the theme. For example, the mini skirt incident about a woman and a rude old man, the title "mini skirt incident" is good enough but titling it as "rude old man" is not recommended. However, as a blog owner, you have the freedom to do write what you want and how you write it. There are writers who write for an audience and there are writers who write for themselves.

Yes, I agree with you. One of the coolest things about having a personal blog is that it is your place, you are free to write whatever you want. Nevertheless, when you want to have a public... it is always good the hear other people advices, and if they have experience like you... even better! Thank you so much.

I think you need to find your voice. And that way you can come up with more topics if possible. You can see that these days there are plenty of content out there. And if you do something about the order in which you write. It's possible to write and schedule the content. You can hit publish when you feel like it. As you can see that is something many people found useful. I think for that it's something worth thinking about if you have some scheduling plans.

Yes. for me it is important that you focus on one topic so your blog would be more organized. People may have more connection to your blog if you focus on one topic. It is still good to have random topics to your blog but you must organized it according the category of the blog posts you make.

You can write different topics in your blog but do categorize them. Blogger dot com has a good template where you can put your articles under different categories and labels with tags. Use them. Spread your thoughts.

It depends on what you want to do really. If you want a blog dedicated to software reviews or fashion and such, then stick to the theme. Otherwise, if you want an all general blog, then it might look a bit messy, but it could work out really well if you do it right. It's all about how you construct it and how you give a good transition.

Before you start to write, have a clear understanding of your target audience. What do they want to know about? What will resonate with them? Consider what you know about your audience and their interests while you are coming up with a topic for your blog post.

Well, the thing is that if you will write about various different topics you will reach a larger audience base BUT at the same time, some might not enjoy certain posts of your blog... so it's a double edged sword. I think that focusing on one single theme is the better choice. For example; if you focus on something like technology - you can easily also talk about categories that are connected with it.

You need to have a clear understanding of your theme or themes before you begin. You will want to know who exactly your audience is if you want to have readers - you want to TARGET them specifically.

Perhaps once your blog is more established on a single theme then you can start branching out into other areas?

For a Newbie Blogger ... although technically you're not a newbie since you've been blogging from your teens... so perhaps I should say, here are four tips and tricks for a new blog. It's true that most blogs that target a specific niche do well. But interesting blogs that discuss a wide range of topics can also do well. Just sayin'. I am no "expert". I am a blog publisher and a blog reader. I read both kinds of blogs.

1) You don't mention it, but have you also had a social media presence since your teens? If not, then establish social media accounts on the "Big 3": Twitter, Google Plus and Facebook.

2) Once active on social media, join blogging communities on Google Plus and/or blogging groups on Facebook to find bloggers with "like passions and interests". Share your links and show some professional courtesy by sharing links posted by the others. Sharing is caring. Fellow bloggers will notice you. If possible, leave comments in the communities or groups and/or go directly to the blog post and leave comments there or do both!

3) Also, add your blog feed to Bloglovin and follow blogs via Bloglovin. It's a blog reader. It helps you find blogs that you can read, but also it helps you check out your competition. (Oh yeah! Right! Like nobody checks out their competition but me!)

4) One final tip is to join Niume. Niume is a collaborative blogging platform and they accept republished content. Many bloggers, republish their content at this site and use it to redirect traffic to their main blog.

P.S. With a name like "goldlady", I'd read your blog! What do you think is the best way to organize a blog

Thank you so much! Reading all of your comments was very helpful and inspiring. I think that's what I'll do. I really can't write about things I don't feel passionate about only to have more views or readers. There are a lot ot topics I'm really interested about and that makes me really happy to write about... so I definitely will follow your advices! Thank you.

Don't be too broad. Focus on a specific needs of your target audience. Except you want to write only for yourself. Focus on one topic, your blog would be more organized and your audience would see you an authority in your niche.

I think it can go both ways. You can write about specific content and you can write about general content but as long as you write with quality you can write about pretty much anything. And quality does not only concerns the content but it extends to how easy your writing is to read, how you organize your text how well do you use images and so on.

My little advice to you is, keep on writing good quality articles and never stop it. Just type everything that comes to your mind in a professional way.. The more your contents the more your pages and the more your traffic, the more your cash. Lol

Separate your content into categories! I think that's the main tip I can give you. Create tags and relate articles to each other. This is sure to help you have a more organized blog.

Personally I think if you have been writing that long then you know what your audience like, If you have lots of visitors to your contents then why would you change the way you write your contents, Just keep them interested with quality posts and nothing less or more that's the only best way to organize contents May be they like that you write about different topics, don't change.

I think it better you write on different topics that way you spices up a blog.writing on only one genre to me it makes the blog boring.Add more genres to your blog.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah That's right Augusta, It's good to write on different topics but don't forget that some people/ Writers are only good at writing on a specific genre of topics, For example some writers can only write on Horror and Vampire stories and they are really professional on that but when you ask them to write a romatic story they get lost for sure and ask for freelancers support.

What is your niche? Let say it is child care? You create a blog and begin publishing on child care. How many articles can you create around this topic. After some time you will be at the saturation point. Therefore, consider publishing on various topics. However, you should never publish on heads and tails. For instance on your child care blog, you can also publish articles on pregnancy, maternity, contraceptions, fatherhood, motherhood, even recipe (food for pregency). If you do this your blog will represent various topics. However, you should avoid publishing entirely different topic for instance publishing a gaming article on parenting blog.

I agree that you will run out of steam sooner or later and publishing something that is not directly related to the niche is not a good idea for a blog. The best is to make a subtle segue way like in your example niche for child care. It can be growing up or using the technology for rearing the child. There are also the branches that you can tap like education, social aspects, dressing up and all other things that are connected to the growing child regarding care and rearing.

Rather than writing on a specific topic, I think it is better to write for a specific audience, which then will have multiple topics. For instance, a travel blog will focus on topics that include accommodations, food, sights, culture, and more.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's true. When you are writing, you should always think about people who are going to read your article. If your primary audience is mothers, developing contents that mothers like to read will help you organize your contents in a better. Mothers are interested in a wide variety of topics and you can develop contents around these topics.
