    How you should approach the whole "making money online" trend

    When you get into online marketing, you're usually enticed by the main keyword "making money online" just like most of us.  The main downside of this is that a lot of us think it's going to be extremely easy to do.  We think this because all of the ads, methods, systems and guru's preach that they are making money hand over fist online, and we can do it too!  In reality, they say these things because they want you to sign up for their classes, software, systems, methods, etc. so THEY can make more money.  They're running a business which gets you to believe that if you pay them, you will become more wealthy in a short amount of time because you now have access to something in which millions of others do not.

    The sad reality is that we get tricked into buying these things, and then we get discouraged when they don't work.  I myself got pulled in by an ad that said I could make $250 a day by just posting ads.  I read through everything with youthful ambition and applied everything they said to, which cost me close to $1,000 to get started.  I didn't know what was going on because I knew that you had to spend money to make money, so I just saw this as an initial investment for my future profits.

    After I found a few big online marketing forums, I quickly realized that I wasted close to $1,000 on an online course that taught you how to place adsense on your website and it never covered how to actually get traffic to the site to get clicks.  We all know that if you're making $250+ a day with adsense, you're the top 1% of marketers doing so lol. 

    Fast forward roughly 15 years and we are in present times.  I'm full of knowledge and I can look back on my newbie marketer days and laugh because now I know that I wasted all that money on something I could have learned for free through a forum lol How you should approach the whole "making money online" trend

    I know that you're eager to make money, but I need to you know that you MUST be patient.  You cannot rush things when it comes to online marketing, web design, sales generation, content generation, etc.  You'll actually create more work for you in the end if you do rush things because code will break, your SEO campaign will be flawed, your content will be stuffed with keywords, etc.   So one of the biggest pieces of advice I can give you is to simply take your time as well as don't fall for the tricky sales copy that will get your hopes up so you open up your wallet and make a sale.

    If you're going into online marketing and think "I just made $50, I'm going to put in my 2 weeks notice at work!" you should probably wait a bit longer before you make any irrational decisions.  I've seen plenty of people talk about quitting their jobs after making a few bucks online, then they actually do quit, and then their sales disappear and now they don't have any income streams.  I would suggest to work at your day job until your online revenue is making almost twice what you do at work.  There's no guarantee that you will keep your income going online, but if you have a decent amount of profit coming in, you can branch out and start up new revenue streams in different niches.


    These are just a few words of advice from a veteran marketer who has made plenty of mistakes in the past, but also had some amazing achievements How you should approach the whole "making money online" trend   Don't make dumb mistakes which could kill your motivation, if you do, just keep your head up and keep chugging along until you start to be successful.  Do you think that I profit everyday?  NOPE!  I lose money all the time from testing, low sales, algorithm changes, etc.  but I have multiple revenue streams set up now that I can fall back on in case something does go wrong.  Usually when something goes wrong it's because I'm trying to break into a new niche and it's taking much more time and investment than expected, so I cut my losses lol.



    In Conclusion:
    You need to figure out what to do when it comes to making money online and stay away from all the "guru" courses.  Those guys and girls only make money when you sign up for their system.  If you don't pay them to learn how to place adsense on your website, they don't gain any power lol.  Think before you act and you will be happier later on down the road.  If you do fail, learn from it instead of letting it crush your dreams.

    This message is just directed at me for since the last few weeks that I started making some money online, I'm already contemplating whether to quit my offline job and focus fully on making money online. It has not been easy making money online, but I think I have to exercise patience and continue combining both my offline job and my freelancing work and see how it goes.     In 2014, this money making trend looked unreal to me especially when I joined a writing site that looked good but turned out to be a dud.... it didn't pay the writers. After another 2 bad sites, I was lucky to have hit an honest to goodness site that pays. My motto now is to strive in order to earn money online. Investing money is out of the question for it may only lead you to losing instead of earning. If you are putting up a site of your own, do a research and don't rely on paid help. You can get good advice for free.

    Yep, for me investing my own money into some course or other people's websites is out of the question as well. It is just too risky and most often it doesn't deliver the promised.

    I have also ran into a site that said will pay for articles but they never did. They sadly scammed people then turned off the whole website. You always have to be careful How you should approach the whole "making money online" trend

    Thanks buddy for the inspiration I think what we need all the time online is patience and will power to be able to make money online.

    I'm yet to hit the ground enough for online money making venture but I think it still promising, so I will have to stick around for a while and see how it goes before jumping ship.

    Online or offline, there are no shortcuts to success. All the ads and blogs saying earn big amounts a day by just doing this certain simple task, they're just a way to attract newbies to click on them and read/subscribe to them so THEY can earn money. If you are smart enough, bit creative and can really work hard with dedication, only then can you earn a good enough income online. It is a waste of time, effort and money if you get pulled in by these fansy ads. Great post again Razzy!

    Damn, you got tricked with that AdSense course. But ye, I have personally ran across so many similar things. I see them more and more often so it is great that you warn the newcomers in the online money-making. Never trust things that sound too good or promise how much money you will be making. Most of it is just a way of you signing up and investing your own money. Be wise, think before you ever spend and try to gain experience. Also, always read reviews.

    Yes, very good advice you have given. Most of the advice people pay for can actually be gotten free elsewhere. I think for instance their is invaluable advice being given on this forum that no doubt people have paid a gazillion dollars for somewhere along the way.

    Lots of online gurus are using strategies that will sell their digital products faster. They developed a system that they say will do all the business stuffs (marketing, selling, prospects follow ups) for you once you sign up. Others would entice you using the word "FREE". They offer you to use their system for FREE once you purchase their digital product (Not free at all) and they offer you big commission if you refer their products to your friends and they've bought also the product. The big commission is what really tempted people to sign up. There are online gurus that offers more than 50% of price once you make a sale. They don't really care even they just earn lessen that the commission they're going to give because its a digital product that they can sell over and over again without costing much on their part. Because of the big commission people would sign up even he/she really don't need the digital product. Because of the big commission, online gurus generates more revenue.

    Honestly I am wary of those coaching and the mastermind group options. Those are overpriced. And the best part is those are just designed for them to make money. We don't learn anything of value. And unless we do things on our own way. We are not going to make any serious money. So on that point you have to consider how the money is being made. I have to understand about lot of such skill.

    Often memberships sites and those courses are overly priced. I'd go for blog post these days for the same reason. I won't be choosing the online money approach that would be good for the sake of it. I'd do my homework in that case.

    I feel the same way, and I am always wary of those who sell their get=rich quick plans. I try to go the "do it yourself" route whenever I can, and I have learned so much just from the forums I've visited. I am not arrogant enough to think that I do not need help or that I could not use advice from others. However, lining someone else's pockets with my hard-earned money when I could be doing my own research seems like a waste to me right now.

    Yes if it's too easy then it's definitely a scam or some sort of catch. That seems to be one good option which I always avoid. I stopped getting into forex, network marketing type of stuff. Very few people make money in it. And those who do try to make money. Mostly ending up getting into referral stuff. And this may lead to more of the spiral type of the work. That's something I can't do at all.

    I hear you here. Maybe I just am a natural skeptic, and I was raised to be believe that if it is too good to be true, then it most likely is. I don;t want to be a part of any pyramid or Ponzi scheme, and people asking me for my hard-earned money for their services when I could accomplish those goals myself tend to turn me off pretty quickly. I do not mind people trying to make money, but I do try to be smart about who I invest in.

    Yes. That saying is true. If things are too easy and too good, then they are not. Because money never comes easy. And easy money never stays for long. And same can be said for most of the online stuff. Network marketing, downlines are surely bad thing that is going on. So one has to pay attention to what they are approaching. I hate it when people try to get the money off gullible people. And so I hate those business models.

    Money makes money. With this mantra in my mind, I also invested in various products and services in order to make money. I lost money on most of these products and services. If you are interested in making money online, you should invest in skills development courses such as graphic designing, web programing etc. Without any skills, it is difficult to make money online. You can also invest on courses on reputed learning centers on internet marketing, SEO, online publishing etc. KNowledge is money, if you have better knowledge, you will earn mote.

    Approach it with a grain of salt. Because very few people make money online and very few people that do make money online make enough to make a living. I'll just throw this out there, in the early 2000's I read about all these startup web hosting companies making money hand over fist. So I got a loan and I bought a server and I bought cpanel and I colocated it and I spent a lot of money on the website and I went and got a business name. And in the end I shut it down because it was more trouble then it was worth and I wasted a lot of money. And the moral of the story is people will say anything on the internet and the proof is in the pudding ask them to show you some form of legal documentation of the money they are making if its seems too good to be true!

    I have have eventually come to learn that most of these glowing claims of being able to easily earn outstanding amounts through these so-called online master plans that are been presented is just a means of earning the presenter some money and there isn't any real opportunity for me. I have now opted to bypass those programmes that are charging me to participate. I have seen many and I have tried a few and my experience is that many of them are only selling pipe dreams which will only enable them to earn money from me if I would allow them to convince me that thier plan is viable.

    The words “making money online” were not the words that enticed me. It was an article about affiliate marketing and the guy saying he made thousands of dollars. From that, I was motivated to at least try. I reasoned that if there were others out there who were successful, there was no reason why I couldn't achieve success. You are so right when you say “you MUST be patient”. The people I have heard complaining the loudest are those who wanted instant ka-ching $$$. It didn't work that way for me. I doubt if it worked or works that way for anybody. Maybe some people do get lucky! But most of us have to break a sweat and be consistently persistent if we want to make money online.

    Unfortunately these glorified gurus take advantage of newbies and they mercilessly exploit this common trend because there is obviously opportunities that always pop up where the newbie will pay just about anything to step foot in the online money making arena. I suppose this comes with the territory sometimes and it adds to the elements that will eventually make or break an online marketer. I've had my share of scammers. The trend like some pointed out is that they always want some kind of deposit before they could help you to reel in the big bucks which turn out to be an empty basket on every occasion. So here we are learning the ropes and communicating with real people who are travelling on the same or like path. Now the adventure begins and since we've gotten rid of or at least have identified most of the undesirables, we stand a much better chance at not just reeling in the big bucks with time and effort and application but we can get use to the entire ocean of opportunities so that we can navigate our way to greater and brighter frontiers on our journey.

    Thank you so much for sharing your experience. This is such a very inspiring read. I did make mistakes in the past too and I still do up to this day. It's very easy to get discouraged and very hard to get back on track and be motivated when you encounter failure after failure.

    I'm bookmarking this so that when I happen to stumble again in the future, I'll have something motivational to read, something that would push me to move forward despite the odds.

    My first attempts at this stuff (back in the 2000s) were foolish. I bought ads that were obviously of the worst sort (kind of like the stuff where they promise 10,000 visitors for 10 dollars). Also, I bought a website kit (my first attempt) from a TV ad, but I didn't have the cash or brains to market it. Also, it was just selling things people could easily buy at Wal-Mart.

    Anyway, though, it was a learning experience and now I'm wiser.

    I think everyone makes beginner mistakes. The important thing is you learn from your mistakes and not make them again. And trust me I have made a lot of mistakes over my webmaster career. But I now follow my number 1 rule. NEVER SPEND ANYMORE MONEY THAN YOU'RE WILLING TO LOSE. Because there is a 99.98% chance that you're going to fail. And the thing to remember if it were easy everyone would be doing it!

    Note, those were my first attempts; later I made a couple a hundred USD a month with employment websites. However, though, now, considering that SEO has gotten tougher, I am pretty much out of the game again. Now it takes some cash to do anything - as with any offline business.

    There are many fake gurus online and we must be really careful before signing up for any training or course. You need to research about the person. However, we don't really need those gurus now. There are many books and tutorials available online. I have learnt many things through those online tutorials.

    When I started my freelancing journey I did make some mistakes too like joining websites before researching much about them. I spent hours working on those sites and they turned out to be scam sites. I only left my full time job when I got a better freelance job as an online tutor. I earn a decent amount from this.

    Money making trends should be approached in a genuine way such that people who come across your business presentation can fall for it easily. Potential customers always want to be sure that they are not dealing with scam setvices, but trusted ones. They are always on the look out for genuine services so they can be comfortable with spending on such services. No one wishes to spend on fake programs. So, the earlier business owners understand this fact, the better for them.

    I am also conscious of scams especially when it comes to services because I have been reading about those issues in forums. Maybe if I need a service then I have to ask reliable people on their experience. With products, I also check around before making a purchase. Even a movie, I would check the review and evaluate if it is a good one. Last week we watched a local comedy film in spite of the bad review. And indeed the movie was bad and the review was correct.
