The first Web search engine was Wandex developed by Matthew Gray at MIT in 1993.

The first Web Search Engine was called 'Archie'. It was created in 1990 by Allan Entage, a student at McGill University in Montreal.

I remember that Archie although I don’t remember using it for a time. When our office had installed an internet connection in 2001, all we were doing were testing the internet particularly with the emails. But I remember using Ask.com which was not called search engine yet at the time. That search engine was cool because it is also quick with the result although the relevance of the links on the search list is not that accurate. I think I shifted to Yahoo search before I became loyal to Google.
