7 things you can do to gradually grow your business online

In today's world, there are a ton of copy cats selling the same thing.  You can go on Facebook and see many different people selling SEO services, design services, blogging services, content writing services, the list goes on.  Building up a business is never the easiest thing to do, but you can definitely cut out your own part of the profits if you gradually grow it.

I know that most of what I've said isn't mind boggling since you've likely seen dozens of the same SEO services, Design services and so on.  The freedom we have to develop online businesses is what I fell in love with.  I can do what I want, when I want it and have happy clients along the way.  As you're reading this, I'm watching my little girl play with her shopkins in the middle of the living room and my passive income streams are generating some cash for me as well as all of my clients that I have signed up with me for SEO and Design services.  I fell in love with the freedom of this business, but by no means is it an easy road to be successful.  I've had to log in thousands of hours each year to get to where I'm at now, and I'm not even close to done lol.  Why am I telling you this?  Because you need to know it's a long journey and you may get discouraged down the road when you hit some walls.  You'll need to grow everything gradually and not expect overnight riches.

If your goal is to work from home full time or just to make a full time income online, read through these 7 things that will help you build your online business.

Don't Copy Everyone Else
A customer will purchase from you because they know you, trust you and simply like you.  They don't work with strangers and will try to avoid them at all costs, so you need to get known.  If you are basically a clone of your competition, you will get overlooked pretty quickly and your sales will suffer.  Don't get me wrong, I've modeled my websites after a few competitors, but I've never copied them.  If your competition is doing something right, copy their strategy but be yourself at the same time.  Build your business so people can see your own voice coming through.

Understand who your audience is (it's not everyone)
If you have a product that is good for everyone, you don't know what you're doing.  You'll need to get specific with your targeting in order to have the best ROI on everything you do.  You need to get specific when targeting your audience.  The more specific you can get with your target audience, the easier it will be to do your marketing, which will turn into a better ROI that will help grow you business at a quicker rate.  You won't waste much money if you get very specific, because everyone seeing your ads will already be interested in what you are writing about or selling.

Keep everything you do as simple as possible
You will need to keep your websites design as clean and simple as possible.  We all know that WordPress have thousands of plugins that you can use for free, but it doesn't mean you need to use them.  You need to work on how people navigate through your website, the easier it is for them, the better it will be for you in the long run.  Keep everything as simple as possible, if your customers have a problem, figure out how you can solve it and explain it in as little words as possible.  Think of this as creating a foundation for your business, you can always expand on it at a later date.

Don't solely rely on social media traffic
Social media traffic is great if you can get enough of it, but you should never rely on it, or any other traffic source.  You will need to diversify your traffic streams just in case one of them ends up going dry.  If you are relying on social media traffic, and your accounts end up getting banned, you will be in a bad position because you'll have to rely on your savings to build up a new traffic stream while paying yourself during the build up.

Remember what is important and focus on it
You need to focus on what is important at the time.  If you're building up your website, you don't need to focus on off page SEO at the moment because your website isn't finished.  Sure, your website will never technically be finished because you'll be adding pages to it for as long as it's alive, but you need it at a certain point before you go live for customers.

There is a vast amount of information out there, so don't get sidetracked on a new venture or method in order to make side cash.  Focus on your current business model and make it as big as you can before you start to look somewhere else for more profits.

Charge people what you're worth
I've told many bloggers and freelancers that they should help people for free, but this doesn't mean you should be doing the work for free.  You can give them tips and information on how to do something on their own, but you should never be working for free.  If you're one of the best in the field, you need to charge clients like you are, not undercutting yourself because you want to get more clients at a lower price.  If you're one of the top 10 in your industry, you can play around with your pricing and make it similar to the rest.  Your profits won't get hurt at all if you're in the middle of the price range or even the most expensive, as long as you have great customer support you will see clients signing up with you and not someone a few dollars cheaper.

Always be striving to achieve your goals
You need to have small goals and big goals.  The smaller goals will be like stepping stones to achieve your big goals, but they are necessary to keep you motivated and pushing forward.  You need to build your business one client at a time, and this could be a slow process so stick with it and be the best you can be.  Patience is the name of the game, and you will need it if you want to be the best in your industry.  Depending on your niche, you could get 10 clients a day or 1 client a month, each is different but each has different price points as well.

In Conclusion
You need to be patient when you're gradually building a business from the ground up.  You won't be rich overnight, so don't get discouraged if you aren't making $1,000 a day as soon as you go live.  Use the 7 things I mentioned above and strive to be the best you possibly can be.  If you can keep focused, and keep working, you will see success sooner than your competition or at least have enough success to keep you from needing a 9 to 5 desk job 7 things you can do to gradually grow your business online

Content is King 7 things you can do to gradually grow your business online

It's amazing how many websites don't add quality content to their websites in order to boost their rankings and increase their sales at the same time. It's not difficult to write up content on your own, and even if you don't have time to do it yourself you can outsource it for a few bucks an article, but people still don't think about doing it 7 things you can do to gradually grow your business online

Also, relying on a single traffic source should be avoided and that's because you're never sure if it will burn out and leave you with your sales drying up 7 things you can do to gradually grow your business online

Charging people the way that they should be charged is one of the best ways that we can get to become better and known in the world of freelancing and blogging. The reality of life is that many of us don't value the things that we get for free and that is the reason we should understand that there are some services we should charge higher in order to get more quality clients that would trust in our products and services in try future.

This reminds me of the days when my husband would be covering their office workshop with a video that he would make into a DVD for giving away to the participants. It was more than one occasion that he found the complimentary DVD in the trash can. His next move was to sell the DVD for a small price only. So many had bought and he didn’t find any DVD in the trash can anymore maybe because the participants had invested in it no matter how small. Sometimes giving freebies is not a good idea for it ruins the integrity of the people.

Yes this article is really great and informative, I really agree that we must have the patience to wait for something because there is no shortcut for success. Sometimes it will take us a lot of time in order for us to succeed and to earn well. If that would be the case then we must try to accept it and do it patiently. We must do everything we can and try to view things in a very simple manner so that it will be very easy for us to do what we want to achieve in life.

Yeah, it's very important to have patience in everything especially when it comes to business, since it's an ongoing process and there's always room to improve and not everything is obtained in an instant.

I have recently discovered the reason for my family Online business. My research told me that X niche is very lucrative. I launched the business in x niche. Everyone is making money does not mean you will also make money. My business could not lure customers and it is on the brink of bankruptcy. I should have focused on other factors like how will I pull customers, how will I market my business, how will I outsmart my competitors. However, I failed to analyze these important points.

Great article very informative...specially "Keep everything you do as simple as possible". This is quite true in my experience, there are sites that are very extravagant in everything in their site and sometimes it gets confusing. Those sites that involves too much graphics and animation are enticing but also overwhelming the beauty of the content. A balance of everything is the best approach in my opinion.

Working online is one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. It really is a skill that you have to master. Because most online courses are expensive when you're first starting out you have to do hours and hours of Google searches. Eventually to reach the conclusion you have reached. The most important thing you have pointed out is concentrating on a niche. It's tempting to do whatever comes our way. You very quickly realize that this is not the way to go, and if you continue this way you won't acquire the knowledge you need to succeed.

Prior to starting your business, it is important to have a clear understanding of who your target market is since this will help you focus your marketing more and your products and services will be better optimized towards the demographic that you have decided on. You don't have to cater to everyone just as how not every strategy that works for your competitors will also work for you.

The point of not copying anyone else is very important in making your online business last and keep doing well for you in terms of generating traffic and profits as well.

When you don't copy other people works but take inspiration from such works and develop yours to be unique, then in my opinion everything is all good.

I understand your point about not relying on social media traffic that’s because almost everyone is now looking at that direction. Traffic from social media is one easy way of getting additional traffic for a website. It doesn’t matter much if the traffic comes from people who are not really interested in your website. What’s important is that they click on your backlink and give you traffic. However, if that is always the case then your website cannot be considered successful unlike if you have regular readers.

It's true what you said about the use of social media in generation of traffic for one's site. As long as the backlinks created are good and of high quality, there is no way they wouldn't get more traffic to the site.
