You need to gain backlinks, dofollow backlinks to be more precise that have an authority score over 20. But I consider you shouldn't focus too much on what authority score your domain gets unless you plan to sell the domain and this may be a selling factor.
Otherwise, focus on getting more organic traffic!

Getting high-quality dofollow backlinks should be your top priority, but as I said, don't make it all about the authority score because you may end up with a nice score but with very low to none organic traffic.
Also, what tools are you using to figure out your domain authority? I suggest Moz or Ahrefs.

To increase your authority you need to prove that you deserve it. It's kind of backwards if you think about it lol. You need high authority backlinks in order to increase your own authority, but 3rd party websites that have the authority won't let you post on their pages unless you have a decent authority...

What you can do is start with guest posting or purchasing some high quality backlinks.

Guest Posting:
Contact a bunch of blogs in your industry, not just any random blog in a niche that is irrelevant, and pitch them a guest posting opportunity. You'll basically be asking them to post high quality content on their website or blog, for free, in return for a dofollow backlink to your blog or website. Getting a high quality dofollow backlink will almost always increase your own authority, and boost your rankings within Google and the other search engines.

Purchasing Links:
Google actually hates this method, but it's pretty impossible to catch on if you do it right. Now, I'm not talking about purchasing crumby "high quality" backlinks in the thousands, because those won't help you much. You'll need to put some actual money into this and drop $200+ into a few great backlinks in order to boost your own authority. There are plenty of services out there that actually do high quality manual backlinking and don't just scrape together a few thousand "high quality" backlinks and blast your links to all of them. Software isn't going to increase your rankings, but hard work will

There are actually many ways to increase your authority, but these are two of the easier ones that don't take as much time to do as you would think. I would avoid setting up your own PBN and building that because you'll waste more time on them than you would on your own website lol

Ah, the purchasing of backlinks. I have always been so skeptical about that since you require high-quality backlinks and not those that will get marked as "spammy". How can one even tell beforehand? I never tried to buy them but I have always put the time in to build the backlinks completely manually.

What I have found out that domain authority requires a lot of high DA links to increase. Think of domain authority like pagerank. Most of the websites out there accept guest posting. So you have to make sure to accept the guest posting too. And get more sites to link you. And make sure those linked websites are also high quality. If the site is of low quality then it would not help your rank. Another thing is that you should have some sort of branding. More brandable domain easier it is for the domain authority.

Yes it works on the value of the domain. And lot of factors playing here. I have seen MOZ team working on those. And they update the value. So it seems like they are doing a lot better in that case for setting the domain authority. I wonder if new domains can improve quickly.

I've been taking some courses in SEO lately, and as far as I'm aware, increasing your domain authority boils down to fulfilling a certain set of requirements.

There are certain basic aspects which contribute to domain authority that are within your control. Factors like choosing an appropriate domain name, optimizing the code of all on-page content, making sure your page is mobile friendly, and creating good, linkable content all contribute to domain authority.

One of the most important factors though is properly managing your backlinks. It is wonderful when a reputable site with high authority links to your content, but when a low authority, "toxic" website is linking your content for whatever reason, that is a problem. If you feel that a website might be hurting your domain authority, remove your link to it.

And as always, don't forget to properly market your content on a couple of social media platforms.

There are two things you have to do in order to basically increase your domain authority with Google and the rest of search engines. First, you need to build a brandable website using a WordPress theme. Having set up such a WordPress website, SEO is enhanced already. Second, you must focus your work on building your audience within your niche and create fresh contents on your site from time to time as you know google and the rest of search engines love contents.

Content is king as far as getting indexed and getting high rankings in search engines is concerned. Other steps such as guest blogging, buying contextual ads, facebook ads, PPC and so on are secondary.

Besides everything written you should note that if your website is ranked high in the search engines it will have higher domain authority so don't neglect things like: content, internal linking and on page SEO. But yes, the best way is definitely by building high-quality backlinks combined with those factors that I've listed. If you do all of that your domain authority is bound to increase.

I agree that the ranked sites have high authority. But google also ranks new domains for short term. So that does not mean they are high authority. I think ranking shuffles all the time. And also DA is MOZ specific ranking. So I don't think all the time it'd be accurate for the people who want to check it for the SEO work.

Having strong backlinks to your website is good for building an important Domain Authority. I aslo want to point out something esle too.

Your contents matter alot. Having relevant and useful content/information about a particular topic helps in increasing your authority too. Search engines have an algorithm in accessing inforamtion quality for ranking webpages.

This is what I need to work more on and get good quality backlinks. I have 2 niche sites I need to get ranked. I have a lot of content on one of them and slowly building the other. I also comment on others comments only niche related sites and leave great feedback without it looking spammy.

Domain Authority doesn't help in SEO. It is just a moz metric so you should not worry about it.
Forget that and focus on your content and quality backlinks, your site will be good on search engine rankings.

I guess this topic is very relevant to new websites that needed to get into the page 1 ranking of the search list. I have read that domain authority is not created in your site but it is what your site gets when there are links from high quality sites or sites with authority. Does that mean a new site cannot have domain authority within a week of existence because it needs to be fully established?
