How to build a dating application?
I have a great concept of such application in mind but lack practical skills. Is there some step-by-step guide for dummies?

Since you have your OWN concept of dating application, i guess it's hard to point you to right direction with some guide, because guides are written with their own concept in mind and it would lead you to something already existing out there. But if you want to go ahead with existing applications or dating platform then i could suggest few different ways, specially to run your own dating website based on WordPress CMS. So be more specific

Unfortunately, things like this aren't exactly the easiest thing to build. Do you have a lot of experience with coding? If not then it might be wise to actually get someone else to build it for you because you are much more likely to get it done quickly. You could even try to just use a CMS like Wordpress and get a dating theme which will allow you to build your site quickly although it won't be unique compared to other dating sites

I would like to known if it has got anything to do with the basic coding or advanced coding when one is talking about building the app from zero.

When someone says that they want to build the app from zero, it usually means that they want to completely code it from scratch so they have to code everything which will usually require some advanced coding as well as some basic coding.

I would suggest you watch videos on how most of these dating sites thrive. Understanding what they did before becoming successful is at the end.

This might be a bit dumb of me to point out but since you said you don't have any experience with building applications yet already have a good concept in your head, why not look into hiring somebody that can turn your vision into reality? I think that it might be better than to invest all of your time into learning it yourself... I know that it would cost money but your time is valuable as well so perhaps consider it.

I don't think that's a good idea to hire someone to make your idea into a reality because if that idea turns out great and really a promising one, there's a chance that they might just steal your idea and make a profit out of it or sell it on their own. I do have some ideas of my own that I think it will be great but I'm keeping it to myself and trying to learn to do it on my own so I lessen the chances of getting this idea out of my hands. It's better for him to learn how to program it by himself so he can make this on his own.

This can easily be countered by making them sign a document. I can't remember what it's actually called but it means that you can talk to someone about your idea but they can't actually take/steal that idea after hearing it from you. Not sure how complicated that would make the situation but it is one possibility if he wants to hire someone to develop the dating website/application.

This would definitely depend on the programming language you want to use and if you want the app to be a mobile app. For instance, you can easily create a dating app via PHP. This probably won't take that long if you are experienced in coding via PHP.
If you want a dating app that is just a mobile app, again won't take too long if you know how to program on the mobile app language.
You don't really specify the needs of the app, or if the app is going to be solely a web-based app, or a mobile app. If you could add more details we can give you better responses for your question.
Also, if you are not a programmer, there is multiple sites, even this one, this one that allows you to purchase code. You can purchase a dating app coded in PHP, whatever and tweak the app to your liking.
You should really add more details..

I think for dating application. You need to collect a large number of human profiles. Here you have to add both men and women. And then have some filters that can help find the match. And even better part you can sort the data. That's something you can make use of the app. There are plenty of frameworks that can help in that case. I'd say in that context it'd be surely be useful to make use of the dating application for the same reasons.

One of the easiest ways to build a dating application is first you build a dating website. When you already have a working website, you can use that website as a base to develop an app. You can find many tools online that will easily create applications from website. You can find free programs as well as paid programs. This can be done with few clicks.

It might be better to even just build a dating website that operates like the application. A website is much easier to develop and it's much easier to get users because you don't have to distribute onto the app stores and then advertise it as well (which is much harder for apps than it is for websites). Plus it's easier to find developers to build sites compared to apps (much cheaper as well)

That's true. However, you must also be aware that mobile users are increasing and the mobile users prefer to have an app instead of accessing the website. Furthermore, you will also have multiple options to earn, one from the apps (downloads, installs, ads), two from the membership.

My son was always talking about building a dating application. I should tell him about this. Right now though he is so busy with work, that I don't think he wants to do anything on the computer on the weekend. It is something he probably doesn't want to do on the weekends.
