3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant

In the world of blogging you will always want to stay relevant, but it's not as easy as you would think.  Bloggers run into blocks all the time and have their ways of getting over it, but that's not the main reason they become irrelevant.  One of the main reasons people don't continue to follow bloggers or come back to their blog randomly is because the blogger has gone stale an is just rehashing the same old content that they did before.  Bloggers can write on similar topics to other bloggers, but each one has their own voice, and that's what keeps people coming back.  It doesn't matter if there are 10 articles published at the same time on 10 different blogs, if your post is what the reader likes to read, they will come back every time.  If you're just doing a copy/paste type of blogging, then your readers will begin to fade and your traffic and sales will begin to suffer because of it.

It's not difficult to stay relevant within your niche, but a lot of bloggers fall victim of going stale, or they simply think they're the authority and they begin to slow down their content.  If you think you're the authority within your niche, that's great, you still have to publish content like you're just starting out and hungry for sales.

In this discussion, I'll be going over 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant, and they are:

Create evergreen content for your readers
Evergreen content is what keeps new readers coming in and loving what your blog is all about, your new content is what keeps them coming back for more 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant  If you can write "how to's" and detailed descriptions of how something works, you will be creating evergreen content.  You can also write up something about a niche, and not put a date on it, and it will be easier to be seen as evergreen but that's not the only way to do it.

Evergreen content has to be written in a way that it's good today, as well as in 10+ years from now, and it won't read any different.  If your content can do this, you're creating something that will constantly be relevant and enjoyable by your readers 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant  I understand that not all of your content will be able to do this because some of it may be situational, but you need to get some evergreen content out there to continually pull people in 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant

Always write about current hot topics
Hot topics are cash cows if you can get them ranked, but that's not what we're talking about right now, these articles can keep your readers attention and they will keep coming back because your blog is relevant.  If you don't want to write on the hot topics within your industry, I don't know why you're blogging at all lol.

Write up high quality content about the Kardashians, basket weaving, the X games, or whatever your blog is about and you will see your reader engaging with your content more often.  Your readers want to be in the loop, so write up content that helps them avoid turning on the TV or doing any research to figure out what is going on with your industry.

Constantly get in front of your followers
A great way for a blogger to stay relevant is to continuously stay in front of them, meaning you could just send out newsletters or your can set up PPC campaigns, either way is good at keeping your name in their thoughts.

You don't have to spend an insane amount of money on this, you can actually set up something that combines your email lists and your PPC campaigns, which is a great way to keep your readers coming back.  What I like to do is set up a Facebook pixel on a random blog post, that isn't easy to find on my blog even if it's searched for, and that will allow me to create a custom audience to advertise to on Facebook.  I will then set up an ad specifically for these people, and keep them coming back each week 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant

In conclusion
Staying relevant to your readers is something you need to focus on, if you don't, you'll fall off of their radar and they will begin to forget about you then follow your competitors.  If you begin to become irrelivent, you will make less money and get less email sign ups, so you'll need to work your hardest to stay on peoples minds.  Do whatever you can to create the best content that is evergreen, covers a hot topic, and even gets you in front of your followers each week 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant  If you can do these thing, you'll be better off in the long run, and also more successful 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant

Great tips. Especially the second one. Always pen your articles or pieces about relevant topics and occurrences within your space or niche. People come to you for the latest in what's going on, not retreads or stale product.

To me, it sounds like "evergreen" (a new term for me!) and fresh and vibrant topics are one in the same--I could be totally off-kilter on that here, but I think that you are mainly reminding us to stay as fresh, current, viable, and on the edge with our content and its cultural context as much as possible. This is, of course, very good advice. If one can distinguish himself in this way, I would definitely visit that site for content for my own personal enrichment because I would feel that doing so was keeping me as informed and up to the minute as possible. And time is our moist valued commodity.

Not all blogs can be fresh and if all blogs will adhere to that them of being fresh then there will be extreme saturation. What I mean is that blogs need to be interesting and being fresh or new wouldn’t matter. I am talking based on my experience that I don’t care for new niches because what I want to read are blogs that fall under my passion. Being relevant is important but you have to be in touch with your readers.

In order to get constant traffic, you need evergreen contents. Evergreen contents measn the content that was relevant in the past, is relevant currently and will be relevant in the future. Since the relevancy of evergreen contents never expire, having ever green contents means you will continuously get traffic.
Apart from everygree contents, you also need to write and publish on current topics. Since the current topics are trending topics, you post on current topic will generate a lot of interest.

Yes, I think the content always needs to be relevant or people are just going to tune out. This is one of the options that you might need to explore when you are going to disseminate your content. You need to make sure it is relevant for all. I think it is important to understand that the content you present has to serve users in the future as well as the present.

I believe in evergreen content. I can recycle some of my content from 5 years ago. It's great!

I don't always write about hot topics but when I do, it's usually because I'm HOT!!
That's right! I've got an opinion and I'm going to speak my mind! LOL. 3 tips for bloggers who want to stay relevant

I am finding that Facebook groups are helping me to get in front of ... anybody! Followers, non-followers ... whoever is out there!

sadly, I am not benefiting from my facebook groups much. I have a group but do not have a lot of members and most of the members are always absent. I am benefiting from my facebook pages though. I have facebook pages for my websites. I do not have a large fan following, however, I do get a good engagement on my posts.

With relevance to your niche, you cannot go wrong with current topics especially the trending topics of the day. An example is the false alarm that was sent to Hawaii residents about the inbound missile from North Korea. It was one hot topic the other day and I’m sure if it is related to your niche then that would be a great topic to write. That’s it is imperative for writers to read the newspaper in the morning to at least make them abreast with the current news.

That's true. It's like you're naturally following the latest trends on the internet. People are more likely to stumble upon your blogs if they see your site in the search results. Hot topics create opportunities where it can happen.

I'm OK with evergreen content but I only write about hot topics every now and then. It's probably just me but the topics that are listed as “hot”, I'm usually not even interested in. If I try to write about those topics, my lack of interest and enthusiasm will show to the reader. They fall asleep from boredom. Zzzz ...

I know what you mean. It's really obvious when people are rushing to follow the hype of what's "in" right now. That's where hot topics come in. But if it's not the type of content you're interested in, better to skip writing it.

Readers will notice if the writer isn't into their topic. It's obvious in the writing.

I like the idea of creating evergreen content. It's a nice name for most of what I've read. So this is why I keep coming back to posts from my favorite blogs. They're consistently relevant despite the years since they were published.

The importance of some posts on a particular blog is what is going to make people to check back on the blog often. I have discovered that some popular blogs always have that pattern where you get to make a visit to the blog because there are articles you always want to check out there.

To stay relevant a blogger must always be on the move, writing from ecperiences, he needs to experience things relevant to his niche on a daily basis if it's possible. In my experience it's a 70/30 mix of travels and writing.
