From what I understand, it's an algorithm that seems to combine subscriptions and downloads, but there is a bit of debate online about exactly what constitutes the rankings. I don't know that there's any firm definition online because I imagine if that was the case people would be out there trying to game the system to ensure their podcast was near the top. I don't have a podcast myself though, so perhaps someone with more experience can weigh in more than my basic understanding!

I am looking for the ratings and subscriptions because if the one channel in podcast has good ratings and huge subscriptions it means that it is a good and reliable channel to watch or listen for.

I think that it is a combination of all those things.I know that down loads are very important in terms of podcasts ranking. I think that the more downloads that your podcast gets the more popular it is considered. I know popular podcasts like those down by Oprah and Tim Ferris have millions of down loads.I think a combination of subscriptions and downloads should do the trick. Podcasts is still not a widely used area,so very little is known about how it works.

Yeah that is right. Those mentioned above are needs to choose which podcast you want to subscribe. It is like a vlogs in Youtube, of course you will not subscribe and waste your time in a channel that has few people got interest in. You would watch a youtube video which has a lot of viewers and subscribers because it means that, this channel is lots of things that made them interested to watch.

It's like everything else, the more subscriptions and viewers it has the more downloads, reviews and comments it'll have. So bottom line would be the number of legitimate subscribers and views.

I agree with you. This is the most accurate and direct to the point answer. Anyway, while getting to the bottom line of this query, one should be able to find ways on how to gain legitimate subscribers.

I think the point comes down to if you want listeners or want the revenue. In order to have proper revenue, you need better listeners. So you may have to go blogging too. So that way you can attract more visitors and listeners to your content. Most of the time it may surely work out. I have seen people making use of the podcast for brand building and they get social media promotion through it.

To be honest, I have no idea about podcasts and how to improve their ranking. This is a learning site too. I love it here as am learning.

I'm also curious about that. I personally think that promoting and writing something about it on your blog site. or social media accounts help you get more subscribers. Thus, making your ranking improve. However, I want to learn what other possible method there is.

Make your podcast name and episode titles what people would possibly search for. If you have clever name, you could nonetheless include a key-word within the title field. Please don’t name your episodes plain like Episode 1,2,3 and so on. tell me who’s being interviewed or the subject, or a clever title on specific category. most podcast apps’ search is limited generally to podcast title. A few consist of the author field, which has led to people stuffing that with key phrases however Apple has cracked down on that a piece.

I am ignorant of podcasts although my niece has a regular podcast for her business. I didn’t know that there is a ranking for the podcast. Maybe I have to do some research on this because it can perhaps earn me something. But speaking of iTunes perhaps the podcast should be subscribed to iTunes. Now this is getting interesting but also complicated for me.

No single method actually will give you the result you need. Many methods come into play to produce the desired effects. It is good that you ask.

I originally meant to ask this of a particular vendor on the site and how they insured something would get a top ranking, but this has been a good conversation.

I have lunch several podcast now and it seems that what matters the most is reviews then ratings than subscriptions then downloads
