Way back then, I use Yahoo mail for my email. I am satisfied with its functions. However, when I tried to create new email I used Gmail and I find it easy to use and easy to access. Though both are good and almost the same, I much prefer Gmail now than Yahoo Mail.

Me too. Yahoo used to be the main email for online users. But ever since Gmail became a thing, it's like you know which one is better. So you obviously went with the better and newer alternative.

I used Hotmail more than I ever used Yahoo, and Hotmail feels so dated compared to my Gmail account. I feel like anything Google does is very progressive and moves with the times very well. Some other email account providers seem to rest on their laurels more - and that's not a good thing when it comes to keeping customers.

I feel like I didn't see your signature exclamation mark. I think I got used to seeing you reply with a passionate streak. Like this!

I don't think I've used Hotmail. It sounds weird and foreign to me. I just used Yahoo back then because its search engine was still pretty relevant. Now it's overshadowed by the almighty Google.

I'm sure it's not a good thing when they rest on their names. Well, they really can't compete with Gmail. It's practically the most used email provider since the last decade or so.

That was also my thought before. I tried to use gmail more than my yahoo mail. But since online jobs are available, I got back to my yahoo mail which is more luckier in online tasks.

I prefer Yahoo Mail, but I also have Gmail which is a requirement of some apps, but I rarely use it. Unlike Yahoo Mail which I've been using for more than 20 years now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
That's neat. I'm not used to hearing others still using Yahoo mail. I kind of don't like its design. Maybe it's because I haven't upgraded mine so that I don't get ads. I'm glad it's worked out for you for more than a decade.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I love Yahoo mail. I've used it for so many transactions. Yahoo mail has been my partner for more than a decade. However, after that incident that I can't access my email account, that's the time that I decide to switch to gmail. So far, I am satisfied with my gmail account.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
I've had a similar experience. I used to have a Yahoo account. But after being unable to access it, I had to change my provider. To my surprise, Gmail was actually better in many ways.

I also don't have to worry about losing my account since it has many ways to return access to its original owner.

What features make Gmail pity over yahoo mail. I have used the two of them for long and I have not seen anything that can make Gmail better.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
It's probably a personal preference. I just like how it's displayed better than Gmail. Also, I find it easier to use. A lot of times Yahoo can suddenly lag for no reason. It's probably not just me experiencing that.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Kakashi2020
For me Yahoo is the original and Gmail is just a copycat. I will not change my primary email from Yahoo to Gmail, simply because I trust yahoo more than Gmail.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Steve5
You might have made a good decision. Google is known for tracking everyone's information. So I'm sure that Yahoo is somewhat less intensive on using everyone's data. Best to stick with what you're sure of.

I think that most of the time I am using my yahoo mail on most of my freelancing sites but although I have also a gmail account but then I rarely used it because I am more comfortable using the yahoo mail since I was already used to it for a long time ago. But of course I agree that both of them are great and really works well but it will only depends on us on how we are going to use them

The same is true to me. I prefer using yahoo now since the online jobs are available. I also have a gmail.

I also forgot this great reason for being in Gmail. It is always my job procuring portal.

I agree with you on this. Yahoo is what I have used for long and find it most convenient. Yahoo is older in the field than Gmail and I feel Gmail is an imitation.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

esteban123
Yes that is really true and I have a big trust on yahoo that is why I am confident and convenient in using it. I really like its features than the gmail and in terms of speed I prefer the yahoo because I can easily open it specially if I am in a hurry and have something very important that I want to see in my inbox. It is great that yahoo is till there and providing some reliable and quick service with us.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That is right. I am thankful too that yahoo is still there for me. It is reliable and trustworthy.

I agree with you also. Yahoo mail is older than gmail. Gmail imitates yahoo mail. I prefer yahoo mail. I have tested and proven it.

I guess it's the reason why Yahoo keeps going. There are a lot of people who had been using it ever since many years ago. Some social media accounts like Facebook were created because of the help of Yahoo mails, just like mine.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

My very first email account was a yahoo mail and that's why I'm very comfortable using it until now. I do have some Gmail accounts but I rarely use it. I really don't know why I feel uncomfortable using Gmail, even though I know that it's a good email platform, I just feel that I trust yahoo more when it comes to emails.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

It took me a while to get used to my Gmail account (I mainly used hotmail beforehand rather than Yahoo) but once I got the hang of it I couldn't see myself regularly using any other email platform. It may be the same case for you that it might just take some getting used to! Do you prefer Gmail or Yahoo mail?

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think so too. I actually had an awkward experience using Gmail in the beginning. But I quickly learned how to use it thanks to its simple features. I still miss the classic Gmail look.

The updated version kind of feels like a phone version rather than something for the computer.

I have both Gmail and Yahoo emails, but I prefer using Gmail because of its convenience. Besides, Gmail has no distracting ads like those of Yahoo. Futhermore, Gmail is user-friendly than Yahoo.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
The ads is a big part of it for me too. I don't like things popping up in the sidebar or anything - they're annoying and a big distraction. The layout of gmail is much cleaner and more streamlined to me, which is part of the appeal.

I used Gmail and Yahoo emails up to these day. Both, are easy to use. I use my gmail accounts when I have the need to work or watch videos on youtube. My yahoo accounts serves us my personal mailing box. I also used it's messenger to chat and connect with friends before.

Gmail app both on the android and the web works lot better. In case it filters out content more effectively. And yahoo mail being a bit troublesome with each new update. It is not worth having such type of the mail program. Something I won't be relying on this type of the app or say program. It can be seriously tiring if you ask me.

It was embarrassing when I was unable to recover my yahoo mail few years ago all because I don't have the password again. I did everything and the support team could not help out on such a simple matter.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

vhinz
I also tried to recover my yahoomail in the just to see if there are some important messages that I should read. But all the options available for recovery was unsuccessful. I didn't bother to try it again and I never created any yahoomail account again.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

overcast
For me all the recovery steps failed. And they just could not offer me any more steps. So the password can't be recovered. And I lost the account. The worst part is it is not worth signing up for that anymore. Unless you want a throw away address.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

My Yahoo recovery screen works in loop. It asks me for captcha. And then take me to next step. Then comes back to previous step and each step takes captcha from me. So it is unending loop of captcha.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

That's really annoying. Recovering your account trying the different options but ending up doing it over and over again.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes the captcha is so annoying. That I have given up on that account. And instead of worrying about that account. I have just moved to gmail and outlook.

On filtering spam mail and on saving on ads then Gmail is better. Yet it is true advising to me hat yahoo is the best.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes Gmail is far more effective in filtering the spam. And also it can block a lot of spam before reaching the inbox. I have rarely seen the spam in the inbox. You can see that gmail surely seems like to get things serious. So Gmail is far more effective.

Google mail is a better option for me as the support team are always there to give you the necessary support when you call on them. Also, I have come to realize that majority of people make use of gmail in things that they do on the internet.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I prefer Gmail. It's much more advanced and capable of doing stuff online. I'm able to receive my emails promptly. Plus, it has a better interface. Though, I don't like the new design. I preferred the classic look.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Gmail without a doubt. It's got so many fantastic features, and once I really started using it I couldn't really enjoy using any other email interface.

I just feel way more organized using Gmail as my primary email source and really enjoy how they move with the times so well.

That's why i preferred now using yahoo.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you. Both Yahoo mail and Gmail are the best mailing services and the question which is better depends on the user's preference. They have the freedom to choose which is more effective and convenient for them and what suits for their taste and personality.

It surprises me how many people still use Yahoo Mail. There have been so many instances of the network being hacked and email passwords stolen or illegally accessed. I will admit it has an attractive interface. Unlike the current iteration of Hotmail. But I prefer Gmail. I left Yahoo Mail years ago because of the spam that was just getting through unchecked, almost every day.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree with you, when I have read a lot of issues about yahoo so i don't use it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

To me Yahoo is outdated in many respects. I don't think anyone can really compete (on a free level) with Gmail these days. If someone contacts me from a Yahoo account, I'm honestly going to think they are less professional than someone who contacts me from a Gmail account.

Maybe that's judgey/stereotypical, but it's just where my mind goes!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I got your points. It has been many years since the first day that I used Yahoo mail. I think it was common during Friendster days. Gmail is a new version of mail and this is what I am using right now.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I used to think that way too. I think people loves to embrace and try new things. Yahoo has been there for long time and it looks too old for us to keep on using it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yahoo still survives as a search engine and news service. But its email system I don't think will see any newer or fresh updates in the future. Yet it's interesting that they've never decided to pull the plug. It's probably because the service still has many users.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yahoo has had hacks but the interface is better than Gmail. I think it might be he reason why hackers love it. Yahoo has more subscribers too.

Currently, I'm using gmail for my online accounts. But my first email was on yahoomail. I can't remember when I started using gmail. I can't remember also any reason why I changed to gmail. A lot of people transferred to gmail because they found it better than yahoomail. Maybe I just went with the trend.

I believe in the saying that "if it ain't broken, then don't fix it". A lot of my friends are telling me to delete my old yahoo email accounts and use my Gmail account. I asked them why and they told me that for security reasons. I told them that I've been using yahoo for more than 20 years and I'm happy with it, I trust it's service.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I mainly use Gmail as my primary email account. I remember creating an account with Yahoo but I can no longer remember my email address. I would prefer using Gamil as it has a friendly and easy to use interface that you can easily go around its platform without confusing yourself. Also, it has different designs for its themes that I really like because it adds up design and color to my dashboard.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
The designs are a nice added feature. I find that I like being able to personalize my Gmail to fit my own design aesthetic - it’s not something I’d say is absolutely necessary from an email platform but it certainly adds some fun!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ajahcuizon
Definitely. I could remember that when the time I discovered that I could use themes to set up my gmail dashboard, I really enjoyed looking at it. Also, you could use you're own pictures to set as the background. You could use a picture of your inspiration so that you'll keep inspired when looking at your gmail.

I used Yahoo mail before but now I am using Gmail mail. Honestly, I don't see a lot of difference between the two since I only use gmail for emails and I am not using the other features. But what I notice is that Gmail allows for a bigger attachment size compared to Yahoo mail.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have to send a lot of files and attachments for some of my freelancing work and that’s one of the biggest benefits to me as well. It’s convenient not to have to send multiple emails but just attach them and then view them in Google Drive.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You are right. I think this feature is something that makes Gmail better than Yahoo. Especially for a freelancer who will require to do some tasks as you do, Gmail would be more useful.

Yahoo and Gmail are no difference in the basic function that is to send/receive email. However, with the advent and introduction of many new features in Gmail, such as one can access android studio, google play, etc using gmail, I find it to be more convenient and fashionable. Personally, I believe Gmail has larger customer base than Yahoo mail.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I have both, but invariably use Gmail. It seems to give a better experience. My only reason for keeping the Yahoo mail is the need, at times, to produce an alternative email address. Somehow, I have never got on well with anything to do with Yahoo. Gmail also allows me an easy link to other Google products and my email address there is easier for people to remember.

Gmail has been my favorite for a long time now. I've only used Yahoo for a very short period but even then it left me quite dissatisfied. Like people before me mentioned, it was very unreliable and a lot of spam was coming through. Even though some have found Yahoo's interface quite attractive, I never felt that it worked for me. Something about it just kept me from being the most productive I could be.

On the other hand, Gmail's interface really resonates with me. It looks clean, polished and divides my emails into handy segments like primary, social and promotions. It makes it easy to find all my emails while not getting overloaded with unimportant marketing mails.

I used to like Gmail. A few weeks away though they locked me out of one of my gmail accounts claiming that I had violated their terms of service which was disgusting because all I ever do is login, check emails and log out.

If it weren't for the fact that I need to use Google docs, I definitely wouldn't use Gmail. As for Yahoo mail, I haven't used it since 2010 and don't intend to either.

Gmail is better than Yahoo Mail due to the fact it's far established to make extra money for Google than Yahoo Mail makes for Yahoo. As a end result, Google can have enough money to position greater resources into its e-mail service than Yahoo. As a late arrival to the e-mail scene, Google had the chance to analyze from the errors of the incumbents and to construct a system that turned into advanced in each way.

I still remember the time when Yahoo is much more popular than Google. Back in the days where Yahoo Messenger was still existing. It is my favorite tool being offered by Yahoo since I've met other users using that platform. Terms like asl, ctc, gtg, lol were mostly used in those chat forums inside the Yahoo Messenger. I wonder what caused the decline of its popularity. Maybe its because of the rise of social media websites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc which also offers free but better communication services. The lesson will be is that even if the business is already successful we must still do not stop improving our product or services that we can offer to the people. But to answer the question, right now I choice to use Gmail because it is simple but a powerful email service provider.

Keep using Gmail if you want to be happy hahaha. It loads faster, it has just some few adds, and you can use all the features Google has connected with it. Yahoo added a lot of new features that makes it heavier, their add are completely annoying, and they got rid of Yahoo messenger that was very useful.

I like Gmail better. I like how it is tied into all my Google accounts. If I can sign into my gmail, then I am basically signed into all of the google products I use.

The only time I actually use Yahoo is to create junk emails, emails that I do not care if they get spammed. This is to protect my real email from people who either sell email addresses, or too much spam from companies wanting you to basically buy everything they throw at you.

Gmail has been around for a while, and I have been using it for quite some time. I actually forgot when I created my Gmail email account but I am sure it was around the time of the launch sometime nearing middle of 2004-ish I think is when I created my account there. A lot has changed since it's infancy but with the new design and options I think Gmail is here to stay - hopefully!

Obviously Gmail, all the way.
To be honest, I really don't understand any other service apart from Gmail, it's just so popular and universal. There's not a single person who doesn't know about Gmail.

Yahoo is nice (I have an account there), but seems to me as heavily overloaded with information, news and ads.

Exactly, finally someone said this. Yahoo was really good, until they started putting all those annoying adds there. Gmail for me. I use Yahoo as well but not as much as Gmail. I think Gmail has it going for it that it's only one service Google offers. With one account, you have access to all of google including their email services. How can people not choose that over others?

Gmail is a million times better than Yahoo, especially due to all the applications associated with Gmail; from Youtube to Google Documents, life is simpler with a gmail account that a Yahoo account. Also, in this day and age I literally have no idea who even uses Yahoo anymore.

To be honest, their business even about all the services they provide it's about all the data that we allow them access to. Every google search, every email every youtube video you watch is just another bit of data that they can then use to sell advertising and target you. That being said, I still prefer to use Gmail over Yahoo because both organizations are doing the same thing. However, like you said, Google ate up everything on the internet, so it makes more sense to use the account that simplies your life.

I use both Gmail and Yahoo but my main account is Gmail. Gmail is easier to use and has a simple design which is pleasing to the eyes. It can also be easily replaced because making a new one is just a piece of cake compared to Yahoo which ask so many information in signing up. I only use Yahoo for back up. I also use both of them as a secondary email.

I prefer Yahoo Mail not for any other reason but for convenience. I feel content with Yahoo Mail because I tried Gmail and it was inconvenient for me. Maybe I am resistant to change but why would I shift to Gmail when Yahoo is working good for me. Like the time that I shifted to Google from another search engine, it was because Google could give me more relevant links. With the email, Yahoo is still the best for me.

I use both and I prefer Gmail when it comes to the website version, I find it much cleaner and more usable. I've never used both of their apps though, I think they're a waste of storage and pointless since I'm already using the default app on my phone and when it comes to that, there's really not much difference. I'm using both for basic emailing so I prefer both, it doesn't really matter to me.

I prefer using gmail ratjer than yahoo. I cannot even remember my old yahoo mail anymore since I have been using my gmail more. The thing about gmail is it is easy to sign up, and it is very user friendly. You will not see a lot of stuffs in the window unlike the yahoo which has a lot of stuffs displayed which makes it complicated for the senior citizen to access it.

Previously I was using Yahoo but once I discovered Gmail, I quickly switched to it. Yahoo's performance is not bad really, I just think Gmail is more user-friendly and much more efficient and easier to use. Also, Gmail is the mailing service mostly used in our country so it's a great choice. For people like me who do online jobs, Gmail is preferable because most sites don't accept emails other than Gmail.

Currently gmail. I've been using yahoo for much longer, my first ever made e-mail is yahoo. But gmail is currently much more connected to other social media. I think that android phones have contributed a lot to that. You need gmail account for all google android applications: Google Play, Google Games, Google Music... So gmail is almost necessary nowadays.

I prefer to use Gmail as a web-based e-mail service for my freelancing job because it helps me to monetize all the transaction that I have done and easily notify me what updates should I read in a past week. I do not prefer to use yahoo mail because there are some leaks in their security and it will be risky for me as a freelancer that's why I use Gmail than yahoo mail.

My first email was yahoo and I still have and use that email but I have since created a Gmail account and it is more effective and efficient. Recently, I have been encountering problems with deleting emails on my yahoo app. Whenever i delete a mail, it returns to my inbox. I have to use a desktop version in order to successfully delete the mail and it is really frustrating.
