Forum management is something that is very important for the forums growth because when you failed to manage your forum well, it will slack and disintegrate into nothingness.
If you have less time to manage your forum, how many staff or moderator can you hire to help you manage your site?
That's actually a good question as I, myself, am also curious. I just wonder, with all of the users that visit the forum daily, I think, a single moderator would give up easily.

If the work on the website is too much for one moderator to take care of all by himself or herself, first the website wouldn't be in good shape based on being neat and on the long run, he or she would eventually give up.
I agree with you,an admin should look at the volume of work to be done by the moderator and number of users to determined the number of staff or moderators that will be suited for the site. At least 2 moderators should be enough for a site.
This would depend on how active your forum is.
For a forum which has lots of members who are actively posting all day, every day, you'd need more than one moderator since you have to take into account the time zone differences to ensure that there is a staff member online all the time.
I suppose you could start with two moderators if the forum is making enough money to pay them and generate a profit for you, the owner too.
Exactly! The size of your website and how active the forum is goes a very long way in determining how many moderators that would be appropriate to be hired by the forum owner.
The bigger the forum, the better more staff are hired to help out with works on the site.
Yes, I agree with you. Hiring a staff for site management depends on the size and how active the members. Plus, it is also good to consider the financial capacity of the site owner. If how many can she/he affords to pay for manpower services.
I agree with you. Well, it really depends on the scale of your site. If it's still a small one and still starting, you should think of doing it by yourself or hiring someone to help you. It really depends on the workload. If you can do it without losing your daily lifestyle, then, why not?
I think it will depend on the size of our forum, if it is big and have a lot of members I think it is better to hire 2-3 moderators or staff so that we can be sure that it will be taken care of and to make the forum more interesting to all members. Hiring such number of moderators would give an idea that the owner of the forum is very serious in ensuring the growth and success of the site.
It all depends on how many members your forum has, how active it is, and how many topics there are. One of the forums I know that has over 12,000 members only have 3 moderators. That's because even if the forum has a lot of members there aren't a lot of people posting.
Wow! That's actually shocking to have 3 moderators to 12,000 members. I guess, all of the factors should be considered upon hiring staff for your website. Looking at the number of members is not enough, I see.
There's only like 20+ active members, by active I mean those who post on a daily basis. So 3 moderators are fine. I think most of the members of that forum have either quit checking, got banned, or just got annoyed at the others who got banned so they quit LOL! The other active ones don't talk and just check for information.
It depends on the size of the forum and the number of members currently registered. If the forum is fairly active, then you would require atleast 3-4 moderators to make sure the posts are to the point and people are not spamming on the forum. You should make sure all the rules of the forum are being followed by all the members. Moderating a forum is not an easy job and it requires some effort in monitoring the quality of the posts and to make sure everything is going on smoothly.
I think it depends on the current state of your forum. If you can accommodate two or more moderators then why not. These moderators will keep everything in your forum at their proper places and status so I think it is worth it. This isn't advisable though for those forum which just started and can't generate much because you'll lose more than what you are earning to pay for them.

I think it's something you've got to scale and tailor over time as your forum grows. At the start, you'd honestly likely be fine just doing it all yourself when the forum is just starting up, but if you begin to get a lot of new subscribers you may have to think more about getting extra mods, particularly if you've got members popping up from all over the globe. It's one of those situations where a definitive answer can be tricky since forums can have such vastly different membership numbers.
I think it depends on how active the forum is. But in my opinion you should have one forum moderator active all the time. You can hire 3 to 4 moderators and divide their shifts through 24 hours. You can have each working for 6 to 8 hours. Also consider which Country your audience is from and have someone to moderate according to time zones. I think at least you will need to hire 6 moderators and have them working full time and part time according to time zones. If you have a big forum you may need more than one moderator at a time so you may need to hire more moderators.
That's a great idea. Some may have failed to see the important factor for management, the timezones. You are also right that these moderators should have a schedule so that there would be moderators 24/7.
I think it will depend on the size of the site. If it has a lot of members then it has to be monitored closely, One person cannot do the job alone. Being a moderator is not that easy.
Employing the services of a moderator on a site should be of importance to a site admin.It will help make the site more relevant and more organized. Getting two or more moderators depending on the size of the site will be ideal.
I really don't have a Forum but I do maintain several FB Groups which has 2 Admins/Moderators. In Facebook Groups which has thousands of members having 2 admins and 2-4 moderators is really necessary to maintain a good group site.
I have a website with around 100 comments per week and I just moderate it myself. I'm guessing around 1,000 comments per day would be doable for one person since there are spam filters nowadays that make your job easier.
That will depend on how much traffic your forum is getting, and what the rules are as far as posting is concerned. I find that getting help from moderators who understand and appreciate what your forum is about can be quite helpful. The number should really depend on how much work you have. It could be anywhere between two and four. You want to keep the team small, but not too small. Get too many people and you might just end up with conflicting interests.
When my husband was the admin of the forum in their office website, he had only 1 moderator and 2 at the most because he was manning the forum for 8 hours and the rest of the remaining time in the day was covered by the mod. But if the forum is very active with hundreds of active members I guess there should be a mod all the time so that makes 3 mods for the 3 shifts of 8 hours in a day.
It depends on the traffic your site is receiving. If you are just starting up and receiving just a few guests per day then one or two would be adequate. You can hire more as your forum traffic increases
