How do you deal with ATM cash withdrawal during the festive season?

One thing that is very synonymous with every festive season is rush in everything especially if it's during Christmas period. I don't know if people are purposely pending what they were supposed to do and allow it to enter rush hour.

Have you ever experienced long cue at the bank ATM during? It's very horrible, it gets me to wonder if it's safe to have lots of cash at hand often?

I know how horrible it is because i experienced it today in the bank, customers were too much both the once that were withdrawing and the once that was paying into the bank and people were confused inside too,i heard one woman screamed that she has been fraud and the idea of me withdrawal a lot of cash changed and i just too the little that will be necessary for cash payment and left. I felt really sorry for her.

Since we are all in a hurry during the festive season, I tend to withdraw my cash from ATM before Christmas comes in order not to get in an uncomfortable situations. Many people rush and are in a hurry during festive season and the problems in banks and at ATM's are normal because everyone is trying to get some money.

I should have done that. But, sadly, my money before the festive season isn't enough to pay for the expenses and others. So, I always tend to withdraw even when it's one day before Christmas or New Year

One of the most embarrassing experiences that I had before was not having enough money to pay for repairs that's why I bring a set amount of cash with me all the time ever since. I have a record of my monthly expenses, so I withdraw that amount before a month even begins. Saves me more time and trips to the nearest ATM.

This is nice. I don't always want to be at a long queue at any ATM. So, I simply withdraw as much as I would like to use for each month and see how far I will manage it till the end of that particular month which is cool.

That's also good. A lot of people save by the formula of INCOME minus SAVINGS equals EXPENSES. What's ideal is for you to keep a particular amount first and the remaining should be the one to spend.

I never knew there was a problem with withdrawing your funds at the ATM. Usually whenever I need to withdraw cash there is no one else using the ATM. As for security purposes in handling cash, I almost never carry cash. I have a credit card, debit card and a bank card and that is what I use mostly. I very rarely have any cash on me.

I guess this ATM you were at was very popular or in a high traffic area. Never witnessed the issue of there being lines to withdraw your money. The only issue I ever had with an ATM is that it ran out of cash.

Why do you need to withdraw money? Are you sending money in cards? I would probably buy gift cards and stuff for that kind of thing. Maybe like a visa gift card or something.

Sadly there have been incidents when people scam others who are withdrawing money from an ATM machine. Their usual victims are senior citizens. They pose as good people and offer their help. There are also others who rob people who just withdrawn their money. It's not safe even with that many people waiting in line.

Here at my place, we usually use cash basis only and we rarely use debit or credit card as a payment. We only use it in some grocery stores or malls but when it comes to convenience stores or even transportation, we only use cash instead of cards.

I honestly experienced being stuck in the ATM machine during some peak season where many people are already waiting for a longer period of time. It is really disappointing and very uncomfortable but sometimes we have no choice but to just accept the situation and go with the flow.

I had a very terrible experience last year. I was on my way to do shopping for my family when I suddenly thought of withdrawing my money from an ATM. Unfortunately, the ATM logged off and ate my card. I had gone through a lot process and got my card back one week after new year. My goodness, the bank that dealt with me was so terrible, it actually had the most number of complaints in the Philippines, I guess, Filipinos here already know the name of the bank.

it does happen sometimes but i'm glad everything is fine. Experience makes your life colorful. It's only a matter of how you deal with it. Had it not with it, you will have no story to tell. Just let it go and learn from it.

I don't. I just withdraw a lot of money from my bank account at least a month or two before the holiday season and store them in my safe. Last time I forgot to do that, I experienced hell. The line literally took at least 2 hours before I could withdraw. Because I stood for nearly two hours, my legs were sore.

I don't actually do that because I'm afraid of spending a lot before the festive season. It's crazy but, I really can't help but buy the things that I think I want and delicious comfort food whenever I have the money at hand.

I preffer cashless payment but since needing a real cash is necessary, i'd withdraw before the peak season to avoid less hussle. How do you deal with ATM cash withdrawal during the festive season?

Long line of people in ATM machine to withdraw cash for the season is really frustrating sometimes. Good thing is, you can now have other cashless payment option for your shopping and other transactions. Virtual wallet like GCash or Paymaya are very in demand in our country because it gives you the convenience to pay your expenses without a hassle. You don't need to bring big amount of cash or wait in line in ATM machines. everything you need is a smartphone and a GCash or Paymaya app.

I had a lot of issues with the ATM cash issues last year. This year I have withdrawn the money few weeks ahead. You may notice that if you do this properly you can easily work around this issue. Having some money in debit card. And also phone wallet can be a good option. Some of the time having credit card in such case is also much better approach. Most likely if you can pay through electronic means then things work out.

I always try to avoid taking cash out right before Christmas for this very reason. I try and get cash out a couple of weeks before to avoid the queues!

Otherwise, I’ve been known to visit an ATM first thing in the morning before anyone else is out of bed!

It is crazy that the lines are long during the festive season. But, I only notice that in the cities, here in our place, it's great that the queues don't really appear on festive seasons, just on pay days.

I usually withdraw what I need before the Christmas rush begins. This is something that I always, always do. There's nothing wrong with withdrawing or finishing bank transactions earlier because by the time the holiday draws closer there's a lot more people doing the same things; going to banks, buying presents, etc. So just do that, get everything done earlier than one normally would.

I do it as early as possible. Withdrawing some money through ATM can be a daunting undertaking especially during Holiday Season. So better if you are prepared and plan everything that you will be needing for the holidays. Holidays are fun but it will surely turn into a nightmare if you did not plan it out very carefully.

I actually am in awe at people who can control themselves not to spend money before the festive season. If it were me, I would really struggle.

Even though that holidays are nearly coming, I only carry small amount of cash and stick with my budger like the normal days and I usually use my atm at work and we have a lot of atm machinea inside of my workplace so I am not having a problem with it. The only time that I experience some long queue at an atm machine is at malls or some pay day. So those are the times that I prevent to get some cash at my atm.

Holiday season signals festivity, and oftentimes what comes with it are the need for currency. That's why I make it a point to withdraw beforehand to avoid problems like that as much as possible. Sadly, our pay got delayed and I was left to line up in an ATM machine just to withdraw funds. It's horrible and a hassle to wait for an hour just to get your money in the bank.

Everyone leaves their Christmas shopping until it's almost too late and then they all want to buy things at the same time. This means lots of withdrawals. I tend to avoid atms and use mobile transfer but that too has become a problem as my bank's network is suspiciously bad. I have no choice now but to go to the atm and prepare to be on the queue for as long as it takes

I think that most of the time I am making an advance withdrawals whenever I needed some money since I don't want to experience some problems during withdrawals in some ATM machines which is something that I am trying to avoid. I am setting some advance plan to avoid delay and rush hour during holidays or peak season and I really learned a lot from my previous experiences which makes me become smarter compare when it was before.

People just like the rush hour because alot of people had the money sitting in their account but didn't withdraw until now so the banks are not to be blamed. I think it quite add some fun to the season though, since it is the rush season where we rush to get everything.i used to do this like wait still Dday before withdrawing but no more now.

We have that too here, specially on paydays which can be the 5th, 10th, 15th, 25th and 30th of the month. During these days you can see a lot of people lining up to get their money's from ATM's in the mall.

I usually withdraw money 3 days before Christmas to avoid holiday rush. I don't like falling in lines because other people are intriguing intruders. They like to asked and watch how much amount you will withdraw. The place is crowded that they don't even bother to give you space. Some people doesn't exercise confidentiality. There are also time, that I tend to withdraw during mornings since there are less people on ATM machine.

One thing I know for sure, better avoid the ATMs during the festivity season, and for obvious. As you can tell, people are willing to spend a lot of money. Not that ATMs alone are empty, but also there's a lot of people standing in line.

Withdraw enough money before the festive season. It is way better than trying to fall in line and waste you time. If you want something better pay it by card but not by cash. Avoid atm machine because if yiu card gets captured it will take you 10-15 working days to get it back. And because of the holidays there isnt a lot of working days left so consider getting it by 2019.

During seasons like this, long lines in ATM machines are a big hassle. What I do if I’m out of cash and I really need to withdraw, I wake up very early morning to make sure that I will be the first one and I can make my withdrawal. When I do that, no more problem with long lines anymore.

There are a lot of customers these days. I went to the bank this afternoon, the line is very long. I am so tired of waiting. There are also times that the ATM machine has no money. It is very frustrating. To avoid lining up for a long time. I go to the ATM machine at midnight. Anyway, my area has no theft happening.

The ATM queues during Christmas season can be unbelievably long! Hence, I try to have extra cash on hand early on. When I really have to withdraw money, I try to look for an ATM center where a lot of machines are available and the lines are shorter.

I think it depends on the place because in our place you can't see any long line in the ATM, mostly it only takes two to 5 people is the maximum I seen even this holidays season maybe because we are in province or because there's different kind of bank around there and they are just near each other.

I’ve recently experienced a very long queue at the ATM and it actually bugs me because I was kind of in a hurry. I learned that next time, I won’t put things to the last minute and do my shopping a few days or weeks before the holidays. It will surely save me a lot of trouble if I don’t join in with the people who shop at the last minute.

Maybe it's where I live, but I never actually noticed any queues around ATMs, even around Christmas time. Though there are machines available 24 hours pretty much everywhere, such as in subway stops, convenience stores, gas stations and so on.

I guess it's a common problem in some countries. In my country we don't use cash too much, so it's not a problem. Moreover, banks are closed on those holidays. We can still pay via transfer and using card readers, though.

The best time to withdraw is very early in the morning between 5-7AM, it's safe than withdrawing at night and you can be sure that there won't be any long lines.

You are right that the long queue to the ATM machine is discouraging during the holiday season that’s why I have that habit of having cash in big amounts so I would not need to withdraw. There was a time that I was in line to withdraw cash that it took me 15 minutes. That’s a lot of time for the queue which taught me a lesson to stash some cash in my purse so avoid wasting time again.

You can avoid that long line to the ATM machine during holiday season by using virtual wallet like GCash or Paymaya. These applications are very easy to use. It has also have a large number of merchant where you can use your app. I can pay bills, shop online and offline, send money and buy load using my GCash app. you don't have to go to an ATM machine to withdraw cash and you don't need to bring a huge amount of cash either.

You know what really annoys me? It's when the ATM machine suddenly goes offline and I'm the next one on queue. It happened to me last December 24th, I was waiting in line for 15 minutes and when finally it was my turn the machine suddenly went offline.

In order to avoid the freakishly long lines at the ATM machine, I prefer to pay by card instead. It's much easier to just present the card and swipe, saves time and effort compared to lining up to withdraw cash. Just make sure you have enough cash for purchase that cannot be done through card.
