Laptop will eventually go obsolete and smartphone will take over. The functionalities will now be hand over to smartphones. I'm expecting a thin like gadgets, foldable and almost difficult to dicepher, design to prevent theft. It can be open by simply clicking the button where a hologram will just appear to display keyboards, and functionalities.

Given the convenience that smartphones offers, we wouldn't wonder if in the future, laptops would become obsolete. Well, if, not, maybe, lesser production of units.

Yes! I heard a report about the foldable phones. It's sort of like the olf flip-phone making a comeback.

I completely agree with you that Laptops and PC's would become obsolete and Smartphones and Phablets would takeover. It's cheaper, handy, easy to use. I really think that Windows will die a natural death and Android or iOS would be used by everyone because of its simplicity and user friendly.

I think that Smartphones would evolved to become even more powerful that it would literally become a sort of Personal Computer. In my opinion Laptops will become obsolete soon giving way to powerful Phablets.

I'm actually looking forward to this. It would also be better if smartphones have built-in recycle bins.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

amelia88
Oh a recycle bin would be so helpful! There have been times where I’ve deleted something and then realized I probably should have kept it. Having an automatic recycle bin function would have been exceptionally helpful.

This is what anyone wants. I only got those recently deleted photos or videos but not those entire files like documents, apps or any other stuff. It would be great if they could make one like this.

True. It would be so nice! Investors should find a way to make the mobile processor and storage bigger without sacrificing its small size. I am also looking forward to mobiles having better cameras than DSLR. It would save the payment for expensive photographers and videographers.

Yes, I love the idea about camera better than dslr. This is what I'm always looking for. I just hope that if ever this idea is possible in the near future it will be affordable. So, I can be able to purchase it with no hassle.

I can definitely imagine this. Tablets with keyboards are beginning to rival laptops, and it won't be long until the smartphone or phablet joins this competition. A powerful phablet that is like a smartphone, tablet, and laptop rolled into one - this will definitely emerge in the near future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Vinsanity
I agree. Moreover your phablets paired up with keyboards that use proximity sensors wherein there would be no need for us to use a hardware keyboard.

I have seen one of it on the internet but wasn't sure if it was real. It will be surely a trend if they could make one. It could surpass some of our laptop and consider using phablet where it could be more handy and easy to carry unlike those laptops with big cable wired for charging.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
True. I think this will happen in the future. As of today, you can do a lot of things on a laptop that you can do on phone now. Mobiles are also a lot more convenient. It will also compete with DSLR cameras. More and more people are using their phones to take pics and videos.

Smartphones in the future will be an essential device to have to carry on with your everyday life. I see a future of a cashless society, and everyone will be paying for goods and services directly via their phones. There will not be a need to carry cash anymore.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
Yes, I'm starting to see that too. More and more people are using a cashless transaction.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
It's gradually happening right now. I saw a video where a store in the United States doesn't have a cashier and the things you get would automatically be deducted from the account on your smartphone app. Pretty neat.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Alymae
We can see this happening today through the use of debit cards. It is slowly being introduced in our society. But not everyone yet has access to it. I'm quite sure that what you mentioned will occur in the future.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
Yes, I know, but I live in a third world country, and the people here who have access to such services are only people who work in corporate offices. I know a lot of ordinary folks who still don't have debit cards. Majority of public transport still uses cash.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

ivandelrey
I want this too. And yes it's already happening but most countries don't support it yet and people are quite (let me call it) "anti-technology" when it comes to online financing, some people are afraid of online banking & credit/debit cards. I like your idea of cashless society but the way some people look at this kind of tech, it's gonna take longer than expected, I'd probably be dead by then.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

NerdIndeed
I believe the country which has this technology widely implemented is no other than Japan. People over there use their smartphones to pretty much buy anything - from public transport to vending machines, etc.

What I expect about smartphones in the future is big. What I mean is that smartphones in the future would be able to control wirelessly a house with Internet of Things (IoT) enabled using wifi. Future smartphones would adapt to 5G technology and therefore can make our internet experience even more reliable and fast.
In terms of battery life, I expect more of having thinner batteries yet with higher power capacity.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

cjctm11
This could be a great idea that we could use our phone to control things in our house like opening some lights or can control our appliances with our phone. It would be more convenient to us and makes less effort. I couldn't even imagine using my phone to take control inside my house with a simple tap in it. I think it was hard to have this kind of technology and wasn't even inexpensive but considering it would be great.

I expect smartphone to be more powerful and useful not only in communication but also in business transactions. Processing speed will increase and storage capacity will become bigger and bigger. And if internet 3.0 is realized, there would be endless possibilities for smartphones.

I hope a smartphone with an inbuilt printer would be made (if it doesn't already exist). I've been doing a lot of printing in the last few months and that would really come in handy.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Vinsanity
This would be awesome. To think that with a smartphone you can print out the files from it instantly is very convenient and handy. We would be able to print whenever and wherever we need to. But I think that the files that would be coming out from our smartphone is just of the same size as what our smartphone's size would be in the future. The standard sized bond papers for example is so far far from reality.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

theresajane
This would be great too. Nowadays, people are more into smartphones rather than opening a computer or laptop. Including a way to easily print a file from smartphones would be a great advantage.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Vinsanity
Actually wifi enabled HP printers for example have this app that enables you to print word or excel documents from your smartphone directly to your printer. What you only need here is that both devices should be connected in the same wifi.

I expect that smart phone will be more essential in the everyday lives of people in the near future. People will be needing it for work, their education, financial management, health management, paying taxes. Almost all transactions in our everyday lives will be needing a smartphone. It will become a necessity for all the working class and students alike.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I agree. Advancement in technology is correlated with the advancement in education.I am looking forward for us to have good and technologically oriented system of education in the future, where there is convenience and at the same time effective way of learning using smartphones.

This is supposed to he our undergraduate thesis. It was just that it was really hard to produce a direct current that's equivalent to what we need to produce to turn smartphones on. Because of smartphones' small size, it would not be presentable to see because what we need here is more solar panels (like what we usually see in solar powered calculators) that should be interconnected which I think could get bigger than the standard smartphones' size.

I am assuming that in future the smart phone are going to evolve a lot. You can see that smartphone can be used to check blood pressure and the heart beat. So I think with the camera and other feature addition. I can tell you that smart phone is surely going to help a lot. But it would be surely going to cost you a lot of money. And for those who are struggling with smart phone size may have to find paper display type phones in near future.

With the advancement of technology, we cannot really tell what greater heights can it achieve in terms of smartphones. Let's hope for the best and hope that people don't misuse it.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yes. I am hoping too that AI does not get much involved into the smartphones. And another thing is that smartphone have their own set of the limits. And people need to be reasonable with the usage too. Because addiction with the smartphone would surely make many people end up misusing the same.

I honestly don't know. I'm not that fan of smartphones these days. I used to be when I was younger but now I just see it as a tool to help me communicate with people, to take pictures, and to record things. Of course a phone with a powerful battery sounds great, though my phone already lasts more than 12 hours even with constant use. Maybe an energy saver phone? One that uses eco friendly materials?

The whole problem with modern technology that the one direction it develops to is phones, digital technology, computers and that's it basically. So I think yes, you can expect some new innovations which will take the smartphones further. However, I personally will stick to my old phone, haha!

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

You have your point here. You are using the old version of cellphone since their main purposes are only for calls and messaging. Just in case you are pertaining to older version of smartphones, you still have your point maybe because you are contented with what you phone can offer you. But as for people who multitask especially for school or work, for die hard gamers like me who need higher RAM and ROM, newer version is what I need.

There will be a lot of changes in smartphones in the near future. It's features will be more outstanding. I can imagine the phone camera can compete with the dslr camera especially with the zooming features. it would be nice to expect it. I am also thinking that whatever innovation on smartphones I am hoping that it will be affordable. It's hard to salivate on those expensive phones.

I think the sky is the limit with this one. I think that anything is possible. I think that smart phone technology will improve more as the years go by. I think that video and camera technology will only get better. I predict the extinction of video and cameras in the next few years. Look at the introduction of the selfie stick that has taken selfie taking from good to fabulous.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Yeah, on a daily basis, the makers of smart phones keep improving one thing or another and I think that it is pretty a good way for anyone to improve as well. This is because you can enjoy better experience in the world of technology.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Can't really think of further improvements. This technology seems to have reached the impossible that it's hard to imagine what comes next. However, I guess we might see more powerful and capable devices that will run and integrate better with other programming languages enabling a wider catalogue of apps and functions.

I think that smartphone in the future would become more interesting and popular as more innovation and upgrading is taking place which most of us really like the most because we are enjoying some great technologies that we had never experienced before. I am really thinking that in the future smartphone would become more affordable as many companies would now be making for it to have some money which is really advantageous on the part of consumers because it can make the competition be fair and reliable.

Smartphones are very fast growing technology as the years go by. This technology makes our life easy and convenient. There are a lot of smartphones that have been releasing yearly with different brands with different specific specs. We could see those gaming phones or camera phones that have their specific specialization and imagine that we are not yet in the future of smartphones and we could expect more out of it. They could surpass any other technology like laptops, gaming consoles or even cameras for a handy type of technology. I couldn't imagine if all those specification would be in a smartphone at once. Let's see of what could future bring us.

Phones that charge up using natural energy. Not just the sun, but the wind and maybe why not water. I know that last one might be a stretch. but that is the whole point. Technology has a way of surprising people just when they think it could not get any better. I remember when the first computers first came out. We were blown away/ Today, almost everyone owne their own laptop and the innovation just keeps happening.

I think that in the near future charging time for Smartphones would be shortened to under 5 minutes. Batteries would also be smaller and more powerful. Also A.I. in Smartphones would be much better.

Well, I would surely want better and more professional cameras on my smartphone.Clicking pictures is one of my favorite hobby. The professional cameras available in the market are very costly. I wish that all the features of these high end cameras will be incorporated in the future Smartphones which will be available at affordable price.

The hardware itself is likely to keep evolving and become more powerful. Future smartphones are also likely to come with better cameras, longer lasting batteries and so on.
However, I don't think the smartphone will completely replace the laptop, as they're two different devices with vastly different purposes. Laptops provide a full keyboard and bigger screen, which is useful when doing certain types of work.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Vinsanity
I agree with you. Plus, laptops have higher processing power by which smartphones couldn't surpass for now. The operating system between the two electronic devices are different with different features. Laptops which have higher computing power is used for heavy duty document making. On the other hand, smartphones are mainly used for communication through voice calls and texts. It would be hard for us to do document making here since this is an android, not all features for example of Microsoft Word can be used.

I have read an article that one smart phone manufacturer is thinking of incorporating a medical instrument to the phone for checking the vital signs like body temperature, blood pressure and probably blood sugar levels. I have no idea how they would do it but it is a possibility and with the health concerns of the world’s population maybe that innovation is already arriving next year.

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

Not much really. I think smartphones have run its course, just by looking at the current trends and the new phones
being released by phone manufacturers. There are less new features being released, and it seems every year when they launch a new phone, it’s just a minor upgrade from their current flagship phones.
