What you need to focus on if you want your startup to be successful

When you have a business idea, you may pull the trigger and start your own company to see if you can profit from it.  The only problem with this is that most people don't understand how businesses work and tend to lack sales, traffic, or they don't even know how to set up a website to pull people in.  On the other hand, there are companies that turn into Icarus and fly too close to the sun, then burn up and eventually have to stop their company altogether because they were too successful.  Yes, your company can fail if you become too successful in a short amount of time and you're not ready for it.

Having a business is easy, you register it and pay the startup fees, but having a successful business takes work and you need to know what you're doing as soon as you start.  That's why I'll be going over a few key things you should be focusing on as soon as you're ready to go live What you need to focus on if you want your startup to be successful

Lead Generation from day 1
You can't launch a website or business and think "I'll focus on my content now and set up PPC campaigns later" because that's how you burn through your funding in a short amount of time.  You need to bring traffic in right now, today, not tomorrow or next week if you want to be successful.  Sure, you'll hit a few road bumps along the way, but at least you'll be bringing in sales as you wait for your content to rank naturally and through your SEO tactics.

Lead generation is overlooked when someone launches a website or business unless the owner is seasoned and knows what they're doing, so be sure to have a plan of attack to bring in sales from day one if you want to keep the doors open for a year or longer.

Customer Service is a Necessity
One thing that keeps people coming back to a business, more than the price of the products or services, is the quality of your customer service.  If you take 3 days to email someone back, you don't have live chat, or you require them to call you in order to speak then you'll be falling behind in the customer service game.

You need to be there when the customer wants to talk and that's why I always suggest using a live chat system paired with a ticket system and detailed knowledge base so people can answer their questions asked before needing to contact you What you need to focus on if you want your startup to be successful

Automate what you can so you're not burdened later
Remember, you're running a business and it will get busy if you are doing everything right.  You'll want to automate what you can in order to free up as much time as possible for when you have a problem, a spike in sales that need more attention, or you're branching out and expanding.  The more time you save for yourself, the more time you can invest elsewhere, and we all know that means a better flowing system that can boost your sales and make you better than you were today What you need to focus on if you want your startup to be successful

Always focus on growth but only as much as you can handle
We all want to be super successful, live in mansions, and drive Ferraris but that's not always going to happen.  If you stick with one thing and dedicate yourself to it, you could achieve these things, but you will want to gradually increase your sales over time rather than spike right away.  This is because you likely aren't handled to get 1,000+ orders a day right now but you could build up to that after you put together the best team possible to handle everything.

Think about it, if you grew from 10 sales today to 1,000+ tomorrow do you really think you could handle it?  If you're selling a physical product then I can guarantee you'll run out of merchandise and your shipping times will skyrocket due to you having to order more merchandise on a rush delivery because you don't have anything to send to your buyers.

Now, if you were to scale from 10 a day up to 50 a day, then you could handle that with ease.  After that, you could go from 50 to 100 and keep scaling upwards until you hit that 1,000+ a day and you can now handle it with ease because you have all the systems in place and everyone knows what they're supposed to be doing when orders come in What you need to focus on if you want your startup to be successful

Final thoughts,
Starting a business is easy but running a successful one is more difficult than you would think.  It takes plenty of time and patience in order to run something successfully, even if you can get a massive amount of orders from day one, you will still need to scale gradually and not fly too close to the sun What you need to focus on if you want your startup to be successful
