I have the PERFECT idea for an App! - Help Me Out!

I have this outstanding idea for a superb app but I don't have any knowledge or experience in this field at all, so I'd appreciate whatever help I can get!

I know this app will be extremely powerful, helpful and I want to target construction companies and anything similar too that. It's even very likely that any company no matter their niche will start using this. I also know that they'll introduce this to their staff and personnel and I know it will be used world-wide. With that being said, I feel that I should take things a bit slow and introduce this app in Sweden (Where I live) to begin with. I have more or less figured out all features but I need to get it from paper into an actual app.

I do understand that this might sound like it's all about rainbows and sunshine, but this is true. I do have an idea and I'm very confident of the possibilities..

However, there's nothing much I can do with the idea alone. I need the app.

  • Without knowledge, what could I or should I do?

Hiring someone to make this for me is obviously an option, but what could I do to make sure that they won't steal my idea or launch this themselves?

How would I be able to market this as I would not launch this for personal use?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Make the developers sign a contract and an NDA (non-disclosure agreement). You may want to hire someone in your local state/country/region as well so the laws do not get fuzzy with your contract. Have a lawyer draft up the contract and both of you sign it (there are now Skype lawyers who can do this remotely).

Thank you for the information. I know about NDA but wouldn't that be quite expensive? I mean, first of all, I would have to find the people doing this for me and after that, sign a contract and an NDA.. But what if they steal my idea or perhaps the whole app when it's completed, even though we have a contract? I would have to contact a lawyer and sue them for breaking our contract.. but wouldn't they probably be able to fend off these accusations and claim that they made the app alongside our work? - Which would ultimately leave me there empty handed.

What's your thoughts on this?

First, are you trying to make an IOS or Android app?

IOS apps are very easy to make. Learning swift wouldnt be very difficult if you have some basic programming experience.

If you plan on hiring someone you should hire someone outside of sweden. Even if they do steal your idea it likely wont effect your business in sweden for a long time.

Hello Undet and thank you for your response!
I have literally no experience at all in this field and I suppose I would like to have the app available for all sorts of phones, which ultimately leads to both IOS and Android.. As this app very well could be "the golden ticket to Willy Wonka", I would never consider hiring any cheap freelancers without any major experiences, and I wouldn't make this app myself. Or, could that still be a possibility?

Regarding hiring someone outside of Sweden. I do see your point, but I would prefer to keep this for myself until I launch it as a "test" in Sweden and after that make a world-wide release of it.

While i was working freelance jobs at elance.com we had an option to sign "none disclosure agreement" which was good thing when it comes to stealing ideas or leaking details. It's not implemented on Seoclerks here as option but you may think about it to do some other way, if you looking to hire some freelancer to build your app and keep your idea secret.

Since you have no experience in creating it yourself you need to hire someone to do it for you. Possibly find a freelancer who seems to have a good reputation and hire him to do it for you, and it would be best to do this in person I guess not online, so as to have him understand exactly what you need, and also to feel safer. It could be a bit more difficult to locate one in your own country, and so you may wish to check with a professional developing company, considering that you feel so confident that you have a great idea. Regarding the contract mentioned above I would say go for it. Regardless of the costs it is a safety net that you need after all. Consider it as an investment for something that could turn out to be really profitable. I wish you luck!
