Dealing with an old forum that is no longer popular

How do you deal with a forum that is past it's prime and no longer has regular posting daily? Do you try to revive the community with new members or simply shut it down or sell it? What would you do?

Sell it, if you can, before the forum becomes so inactive. Then no one will want it.

Maybe you could just get new members, even a few could infuse your forum with fresh life.

If you are in need of a forum then it is better to revive an old one instead of creating a new one. At least the old one is already established and running, no technical issues, I guess. In reviving, it’s just the same as getting new members for a new forum. You have to make a relentless promotion of your forum and if possible, you can hire content providers so your old forum will have a semblance of activity. One good thing going for an old forum is you can easily invite existing members.
