    Do you encourage seasonal topics on your forum?

    Do you encourage forum members to post new discussions about the seasons? These discussions wouldn't really be relevant through out the rest of the year, but might spur temporary traffic on forum. Also, how do you handle these seasonal discussions after the season has passed?

    Sure why not. Any traffic spur is a good one.

    There's a great general chat forum that I used to hang out at where they change the forum theme to a seasonal one. For instance, Halloween is a pumpkin theme and a hearts theme for Valentines day. I know the owner puts a lot of work into her forum, she's a real inspiration to me. One day I hope to own a forum as big and active as hers.

    In one local forum, the most dynamic period in terms of posts are Christmas season and Holy Week. The boards are sizzling with topics pertaining to the season. And since almost everyone knows all about the topics, banters are common. Maybe the holiday atmosphere adds to the eagerness of members in contributing of what they know, mostly experiences. Not to forget, the board for season greetings has the most number of posts. If that is good content then it's an advantage for the forum.
