Try using Yahoo Answer ! I think that the best way for traffic is through SEO. It might be the longest time to achieve but this is the best source of ongoing traffic.

Social media is the answer.
First of all, create a facebook page or twitter account for your new website. Build followers and begin sharing. If you have genuine followers, you are likely to get website visits.
Email marketing also helps. However, email marketing will work only if you have a good number of followers who are genuinely interested in your website.
If you do SEO, it will bring organic traffic.

First and foremost, I would try leveraging friends, family, and personal connections. So, you can encourage people to visit using your personal Facebook, in emails, and adding a signature to your text messages. You want real traffic and authentic conversations.

For my new website, I used to share links on google plus, Facebook and twitter. Although the views were less, I was able to reach few people and I felt my site was growing. As people get to know more about you, they will be interested in viewing your site and know more about what you are willing to share.
