What do you think about forums based around a specific product?

Would you start a forum based around a specific product or service? For instance, let's say you own a computer repair service for local businesses. You might create a tech support/how to forum that specifically focuses on questions from potential and current customers as well as addresses more generic issues that anyone not using your service might have about computer repair. This idea could be applied to specific products too. What are some of the ways you would use this idea?

Most software sold online have a support forum where customers can ask technical questions, such as about installation or for trouble shooting tips. This could work for a local restaurant or any type of local business too. You would need to print your web address on all correspondence and business cards, so potential customers would know how to reach you.

Do you think this idea could be based around a specific candy bar or cookie type? That would be a dream for a candy lover.

I had seen forums on recipes and parenting issues. These forums are very popular among housewives and the forum site owner linked it to the websites too. This is a good idea where followers of the recipe site could discuss about food and other problems at forum sites. Otherwise the website would be full of interactions that might clog up the comment box.

having a niche is better than not having any niche. You cannot attract all types of visitors, therefore, you have to have a niche and pull people to your forums who are interested in your niche. If you have a forum on specific products and services, you can not only drive traffic but also make sales. The conversion rate is high on the sites with a specific niche.

I think forums based on a specific product tend to be more appealing because you get to find what you are looking for. It is easy to focus on the specific features of a product, the disadvantages, possible solution and latest news about the product. Though it is risky since you might exhaust every point about the product and the forum might be dormant for a while.

I once had been to a forum about supplements but I didn’t last long. Obviously, the forum was poised to promote the supplements of their sponsors. To me, it appeared like a big advertising billboard, I mean the forum itself. But if the presentation of the products is not so obvious, maybe I would be there until now.
