Online banking and the freelancer

I have only banked online for a few months, but already I'm enjoying the experience. I like how you can check your bank balance easily online or via mobile app and even have checks from employers automatically deposited on pay day. Also, I use many of the free online banking tools to manage my bank account and investments so that I can maximize my earnings potential as a freelancer. Do you bank online?

If you have a keylogger on your computer, you will likely get hacked when you try to login to your bank account. This happens as the keylogger records your password keystrokes and then uses them to hack you later on when you are not online. That's another reason to use offline banking services, even if the ones online are more convenient.

I've moved around a lot in my lifetime and have always counted on online banking as it gives me an easy way to access my money from anywhere. I don't like physical banks as you have to wait in line to do something so simple like check your balance. You can do so much with mobile apps now, even scan and deposit a check.

Paypal, Payoneer and other similar tools, plus internet banking are very usefull for most freelancers. It's true that keyloggers or other malware softwares can bring to us very bad experiences, but we can try to protect our money with a firewall and a daily updated antivirus installed on our PCs & smartphones.

And, Paypal as well as your online bank will keep track of all IP addresses that access your account.

In the event you are hacked in your account, they will have a record of what IP address the hacker lives at and can take action from there to involve police authorities.

I work in a bank and I had assisted many of my friends in online banking. However, I always tell them to be discerning when it comes to their password that they should be careful of phishing. Another thing is the email that sometimes is scamming you for your user profile and password for your bank account. Our bank has issued a disclaimer because some emails are doing that in asking for the password of the bank depositor.
