Is Pokemon Go causing accidents, or is it just reckless behavior?

Pokemon go is a hit and many people are playing this game. I have also heard many accidents have been caused as a result. A girl stepped into the street in search of a pokemon, and was hit by a car. If a game drives people to such careless behavior, how can it be so good? Is this game taking over people's better senses, as shouldn't a child or teen know better than to chase an imaginary game character into the street?

I was on my way to Jewel today to get food for a barbeque we're having tomorrow and I almost hit a group of 4 kids who were casually walking across the street. Now this isn't just any side street, I was on a main street that is 4 lanes long with turn lanes in the center making it 5 lanes total. They just walked across like they owned the world.

I wouldn't be surprised if more kids get hit by cars because they're so focused on their phones. A few people have already been hit because they GOTTA CATCH THEM ALL!!!! lol, see what I did there Is Pokemon Go causing accidents, or is it just reckless behavior?

hey man and you know that is not your fault kids still have a lot of learning to do you know how it is when you are young you do not really pay mind to too much, hey there kids right , at least you were behind the wheel paying attention you know you can only take blame for your actions and you were driving safe , i hope those kids learn from it and do not make the same mistake crossing like that again next time , it is really a shame when people dont take there saftey into concern

There was a discussion about Pokemon Go a couple of days ago in community discussions, and I stated that even though the game is original and it gives you that rush to chase after and catch pokemons, it is now going to another level - that of being dangerous. It is a known fact that many players are young teens, who are not mature enough. Often their parents are not even aware of what they are doing. So I truly believe that despite the fact that it is the user's fault there needs to be something done to make whoever plays the game safer. Instead of having pokemon outdoors, couldn't they be placed indoors to avoid people running about in streets and putting their lives in danger?

and as you said the parents do not even know any more, there are so many teens and kids who go un supervised on a daily and that is how these situations happen, i feel parents have to take more responsibility for there kids, i have 3 girls and i would not let my daughters wander alone just for the sake of a game, i love my children you know so i make sure i keep tabs on what they do and have going on, as dad i have to make sure my babies are safe and i feel not enough parents are taking it serious just cause it is pokemon they have that it is harmless outlook twords it.

I am going to have to go with reckless behavior on this one, you have to understand things like this should not be dangerous nobody should be getting hurt from an app, it is like the saying "guns do not kill people , people kill people" the app is not going to get no body hurt the only way some one can get hurt is if they are not paying attention to what they have going on. and that solely falls on the person, if i were to play the game i would not let the fact that i see a pokemon distract me from making sure i am safe

Stupidity. Nothing less and nothing more.

Is Pokemon Go causing accidents, or is it just reckless behavior?

I can see how something like Pokémon GO will distract you, especially since you're on the run and you're trying to "catch them all", but if people are THAT stupid, they just have to blame themselves. It's sad but I can't say anything besides that. It's a shame with all the injuries and all that, but seriously.. Is it THAT hard to just take a look around you before stepping out in the middle of the street?

I pity the fools but I blame them for their own actions. Oh, I mean accidents.

yea of course i can see how distracting it can be also but it is like i have mentioned you have to be aware of your self, i can speak for my self that just cause i have an app open does not mean it will get the best of me, i always keep focus on what i have going on around me it is just the way i am you know, and i wish more people would take being aware of your surroundings more serious, that is how they get hurt they do not care enough and that is never ok

Parents need to play important roles in educating their kids when to use mobile and when not.

May I comment on this even if this looks already an obsolete issue. My take on the Pokemon Go is that it will not last long and I was right on my prediction. During the craze of 2 months or so, I would see people acting like zombies in public places as if they are catching invisible creatures. They look stupid to me. And with that kind of game that the player needed to move, oh, that will not really survive for long because gamers want to be in the comfort of their chair. Is there anyone who still plays Pokemon Go now? I don't think so.
