How can I become an SEO authority?

For a few months now, I got a really good idea about starting a new website about SEO.
Of course for the English speaking public out there are already plenty of SEO gurus, some better than others but generally a newcomer will have a really hard time to compete with these guys, if not already impossible.

SO, I thought to myself, why no go locally? For my own country and language. No active authority figure has formed yet so I think the fruit so to speak is right for the picking.

What I've already done:

  • Bought a new domain with formed from 6 characters and the word SEO.
  • Bought HTTPS
  • Bought a unique hosting IP
  • Bought a premium Wordpress theme

Already have 10 articles on the way bought I didn't publish the website yet.
What do you think I should do?

My end goal will be to get customers as a general adviser into internet marketing, user experience, and SEO. Offer consulting sessions and strategies rather than full-blown services.

I think you are on the right track. You'll need local inbound links and to become a local authority which will likely take time, especially in the SEO niche. Consistently build high quality links over a long period of time coupled with great content and a bit of social media (real social) and you'll eventually dominate the niche locally (and possibly globally).

I don't really need global authority as the blog isn't in English. As far as getting quality backlinks from SEO related sources, well, there isn't really a big list of authority SEO related websites in my country, this is why I'm creating this blog and writing this content.

So yeah, no chance of getting high-quality backlinks, just mediocre stuff from half dead websites or blogs.
Hopefully I can become my own authority and this project will reach maturity in about 2 years.

If that is the case, you shouldn't have any problems ranking and becoming a local authority. Make sure you create the local citations needed.

I also have the same objective as yours because I find SEO as a growing industry and we can join the bandwagon at this early. However you have the advantage of creating your own website now while my plan for that is later because of my lack of time due to my full time job in the office. But with the 10 articles, I don’t clearly understand what you mean by “10 articles on the way bought.”
