Most people use only online marketing strategies for increasing the traffic to their website or blog. Another good way to do it is by creating flyers and spreading them around your community. For example, if you have a beauty blog, you can leave some flyers in a beauty salon. Make sure you write a short description of your blog. Nowadays we have internet connection and free WiFi wherever we go.

That's true but how effective is offline marketing? the kind you described.

You always have to consider online versus offline and how much actual traffic each one generates. If you generate far more traffic with online methods isn't it better to invest all the time possible into it instead of offline? since you want the most optimal possible results relative to the invested time.

I think newspaper are effective. Some placement in newspaper may work out just fine. I think some of the full page ads from the newspaper are working on many options. It may not be easy to understand how the website and the blog may convert. You just have to understand that offline marketing ROI is harder to observe. You can't measure things like you do with the facebook. You can see that website can be easily tracked with online tracking, but for that offline marketing may not be easy.

One of the easiest ways to advertise your website or blog offline is creating posters and pasting the posters in the places where people gather in large numbers, for instance, parks, cafes, coffee shops, library etc.
Another way is to advertise your website or blogs on print publications.

Including web address on complimentary card
Printing the web address print media like flyers, posters, newspapers,magazines etc to be highly accessible by people

Most of the promotion of a website here is done by tarpaulin that they post in the streets. That gives the people the volition to check the website when they see a big tarpaulin about it. However, if you are creative with your billboard, I’m sure you will get more people to check on your website. That means your offline marketing need not be that simple and traditional advertisement. It should be a call to action.
