Most Basic but Potent 3 Step Formula to Affiliate Marketing Success

I came across an old post of mine on some webmaster forum where someone asked how to make money fast. And my response to it was to;

Be an affiliate for a high in demand expensive product. Things aren't always high in demand, but while they are the price is high. That's why they say it pays to follow trends. Or make your own trends! But that's one of the fastest ways I've ever made money anyway.

In as simple 3 steps as possible it works like this;

Find a high in demand product.

Go all out on it, website, social profiles, promotion and marketing.

Drive targeted traffic to your site and make sales.

And that's it! Although, there is more to it, in between the lines, to it than that. For example, finding a high in demand product. While not hard to find, it takes some research to find one that isn't massively dominated! Although I always say, there's always room for one more at the top!

And as for going all out on it, website, social profiles, SEO, promotion, marketing, branding etc. Well that can all be done yourself DIY styly or you can just get all of that done for you right here on SEOClerks!

Of course, there more of those in between things you'll need to do as well, such as actually build a great website, create great product descriptions, reviews, testimonials, engaging content and all of that malarkey.

But basically, that's all there is to it! And many a people have found great success using just this simple, basic but potent formula for success as an affiliate marketer today.

They say that fortune favors the brave right? And Del Boy Trotter will tell you "he who dares my son, he who dares!". Mind you, he'll also tell you that "this time next year we'll be millionaires!".

That might not be true, but it's that kind of infectious enthusiasm that puts bread on the table, biscuits in the tin and a whole bunch of large inflatable dolls which you can sell down the local in no time Rodney, pucker!

Sorry, I don't know where that came from, you might not have seen that episode of Only Fools and Horses so you might not get the joke. Does quick search on YouTube...

Anyway... that's business as they say!

Hey Mike,

I know you're very clever and experienced in many areas, including affiliate marketing so I have two questions for you! As I was reading through this post, I began to wonder 1) Is it possible to be successful with affiliate marketing without actually investing any money into it? by just using the free promotion methods? 2) Is the start the hardest and does it get easier with time or is it all a big struggle to keep the people buying your promoted products?

Either way, thanks for the tips and the steps listed. They're amazing.

That investment is also my question about affiliate marketing. In fact, I am eager to engage in that kind of earning activity but I feel confused whenever I would read that you have to invest money in order to be successful. My understanding of affiliate marketing is that it is similar to drop shipping that you promote the products and when people buy the product because of your marketing promotion then you earn a commission. So how do I go about it when I don’t have a site of my own?

Actually, I need to revisit or rather reapply your 3 tips because there was one particular product that I earned a really nice commission from. At the time I was new to this affiliate marketing arena. Seeing the commission in my account really surprised. Your post has made me realize that I need to go back and look at the product with a new pair of eyes. I should probably "go all out" as you say. After all, if I earned a commission once, I can probably rinse and repeat the process. Right?

True. There are different approaches to a successful affiliate marketing campaign but once you find what works for you and great products to market, you can build your profits around this. It doesn't have to be lot of products, you can start with a few and upscale from there.

The approaches for a successful campaign are infinite, but it's all about finding the right market and products. Profits will come by themselves if it's a high demand product, if not then you need to work a lot harder on your campaign.

I think most of the people struggle with the affiliate marketing due to the lack of traffic. And it has to be targeted. Because if you can't get such traffic. It is less likely to convert. And you end up wasting more effort on that. I have found that some of the time it can be harder to even promote on social media. So make sure you have some following on that front. This way things would be lot easier.

I think targeting the product to what the buyers want is important. I mean you have to do some research as to what is in demand in your niche. I think once you have something like that, that is actually in demand you will hopefully find the key to success in your area.

True. That's the key to whole business. Many people don't get this right. And often invest into something that may not sell. I have found many people who are investing badly like this. So we have to find out what may or may not work for all. In such case the keyword research comes into the play. If one can do it better, they can get the things properly setup in that context.

I really have not had much luck with affiliate marketing yet. My results are very bad and despite having good traffic sites, I just can not make too many sales.

I think I need to study better strategies.

As an affiliate marketer,I make so many sales when I write a good article using an affiliate link.readers tend to relate better if you give distinctive explanation of a product ,brand or service.

so affiliate marketing needs a good quality article on a blog
another avenue is through social media promotion.Advertising your link on must of your account on social media.

having a mailing list for those not on social media.

Hallo Mike, Thanks for sharing those tips with us, I have been using the third and the first one :-) we always need to look for a high and good selling product on market then drive potential clients to our sites to make money, If you just choose a product randomly and don't care about how to get it sold you will be like those people who boil water and expect soup to drink.

I agree about promoting high in demand products. I also agree about promoting highly priced products. If the promoting you are promoting is in high demand, it is easier for you to convince people to buy the product. If you are promoting highly priced products, you will make more money from one product. For instance, if you are promoting a product that costs $10, you will earn $1 from each sale (if the commission is 10 percent), therefore, in order to make $10, you need to sell 10 products; however, if you are selling $100 product, you will earn $10 from one product. It is easy to find one buyer rather than 10 buyers.

It is easy to be said than done. I started doing affiliate marketing for Amazon products in 2012 through hubpages.com. Currently, I am promoting Amazon products on half a dozen websites, however, I don't even earn $10 in a month as a commission from Amazon.

I agree. Affiliate marketing is complicated yet easy. I believe the number one secret to success is finding the right product. It makes sense to go with the product that is most trending. However, the problem with this is that how do you tell if your stepping into a market that is already crowded? Won't this also affect your sales? You may be competing with people that are giants in the industry and have greater marketing strategies than you have.

It is a challenge to find an in demand product because that product that you will sell will also depend on your potential market. If you are active in social media, then you need to draw up an estimated market among the people in your network. Let’s say majority of your friends are the younger generation so maybe a product that is relevant to them can be your candidate. And if the majority are seniors then probably you have to settle for the herbal and other health products.
