I don't know if this is considered as a trend but I find it so interesting seeing how communication has evolved in the social media.

Nowadays, you can see so many posts and tweets where people don't even use words... Just an image, video or smileys. It is really popular to communicate like this now. Also, more and more videos are appearing rather than just simple pictures.

Agree that images and videos or even slide shows making good progress in word-less marketing on social media networks. Memes are also very popular and specially when they go viral, either as joke or some good inspirational / motivational message send out. Same as infographics which are very much in use, but also it was said long ago that picture worth 1000 words What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting? So you are right

Right--this is interesting. I guess that the way that we process language or symbols in general might be changing due to social media. I know that pictoglyphs and hieroglyphs have been around for thousands of years, but the emoticon, the imogi, and the meme are, I think, transforming our modes of communication in new and strange ways. I am not an expert on this by any means, and I am not a social anthropologist or linguist, but our modes of communication through images and not language is definitely changing the human mind, if you ask me.

I have noticed that in Facebook where the post seemed to be from an app. The image sometimes has a caption and there are posts that are caption only but in fancy fonts. The style of posting a caption that you typed yourself seems to be fading because the younger generation are obviously lazy of typing and they prefer to just click on an app or share an item for posting to their convenience.

Video ads on Facebook that auto play are constantly grabbing my attention when I'm wasting time that I could be using for work purposes lol What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting?

I don't know what it is, I'll be scrolling down my news feed and once an ad starts to play, I'll stick around and watch it for a little while until I realize it's just trying to sell me something haha What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting? I guess this is one of the bigger trends when it comes to Facebook advertising, but it costs some up front investment due to having the need for a nice video camera with a high quality microphone to capture the audio.

Another thing I like is the rise of influencers, because now that there are more of them out there, I save more money because I don't have to pay a specific set of big wigs. I can pay an up and comer, build a relationship with them, and likely get an on going discount no matter how many influencers they get after our initial job together haha What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting?

I am also tempted often by these Ads, but i hate when I forget to turn down my volume and they just pop up and start playing loud as all get out when I am somewhere in public, lol. On the scrolldown screen on my phone, the Facebook ads play automatically. I am sure that I could find a way to divert or fix this, but i have not gotten around to it yet. That being said, I do think that this is a huge trend, and when the Ad is about something that i am really interested in, I definitely pay attention to it and give it my time.

Not sure if these are trends but here goes.

  • I like that Pinterest finally allowed affiliate links to be pinned. It was back and forth for a while. I like the sites like Flipboard where you can create a magazine or magazines and then reshare to your other social media accounts. Flipboard is sort of like Pinterest when it comes to sharing links and the interface with other social networks is great!

  • I like that LinkedIn offers a publishing platform and accepts republished content. You get more mileage out of your writing.

  • I was going to mention influencer marketing too. I like this trend because I have actually been contacted by parties asking me to use my social media influence to share their products. That is such a nice compliment. What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting? First, it was a shock that people actually found me and the second shock was when they thought I had enough followers to make it worth their while to even approach me with a request and an offer to pay me. I'm lovin it!

Lives streaming from mobile devices I think is one of the newest trend in social media like facebook. It allows your friends to see what you are currently doing. It's kind of interesting to follow and watch your friends going to places because it feels like you are with them.

Lives streaming spread like viruses and when you realize you're talking to people from the furthest and most iconic places in the world, haha. I reallu think this is a very cool thing to our generation.

oh right--I have definitely noticed this "trend", and I find it interesting. I guess that Snapchat kind of set this off, and then Facebook, I believe, jumped on the live feed and vlog-like tip and started offering this service. I have not indulged in this yet, but I have seen a few of my friends using it. It might just be the friends and associates that I have on Facebook, but not many people, in my immediate experience, are embracing it there, honestly. Of course, live-streaming could be much more popular at other social media providers which I do not frequent...

One trend I find interesting is static images made into a video... not a video of multiple static images... not a video of the static image with sound added... just the single image made as a video to show the mage.

I actually cannot think about any proper trends in social media at the moment except for memes. I just don't think that there are any proper and really famous trends at the moment actually which is quite unusual.

The videos has been rising on a daily basis and it's not thanks to how people now have the courage yo express themselves. I hope the positives outweighs the negatives at the end.

Videos have definitely become a lot more popular and like you said, they have been rising in popularity daily but I wouldn't really consider it as a trend because it has been like that for a while now. I feel that because it has been gaining in popularity for a while now, it just cannot really be classed as a proper social media trend.

Yes, that is true. Memes are a big part of the social media now and every other tweet contains one. I guess this is just due to their popularity in general though.

You can find memes all over the internet and various forums, websites.

I do love to see a funny meme though. They are unique because they are short and right to the point.

I guess the tendency for people to document and take pictures of everything. I have a cousin who is a definite social media addict and has to post multiple times every day. I don't know where she finds the time honestly, as she has 3 kids and a job!

That's true! I mean the way lots of people have been taking and uploading pictures on social media is what we never had before. Guess it's a way to express themselves.

It is but some people are really over the top with it. I am not sure why they think they need to keep people apprised of their life 24/7. However, it is harmless enough I suppose, although you may run the risk of turning some people off.

The live videos is what I enjoy about social media nowadays. It makes one feel the moment of things happening around the globe. Actually, many marketers are tapping from that too.

I think one of the best aspects related to live videos is to be able to be in several places practically at the same time... All we have to do is to change lives between / among users (it's almost like a teleportation, haha).

Are you sure you want to delete this post?

I think the interaction offered by live videos (social media) is achieving something very important because it's getting people closer together (even though they are physically / geographically far away from each other). Unfortunately not everything is used for good, but the attempt is valid.

Live streaming is a huge thing on social media now, and it's interesting to see how different platforms handle it. It seems Facebook tries to promote live videos from friends, and I get notifications daily from Instagram whenever someone starts up a live stream.

There is more and more use of looped video clips instead of gifs. On social media, gifs have always attracted a large amount of use of copyrighted works (eg: making a gif from part of a movie, or youtube video), but much of this is potentially defendable as "fair use". With gifs being slowly replaced by video clips which, achieve smaller file sizes, people are making these clips longer and longer, and even including sound, pushing the boundaries of what will be tolerated by copyright holders and what is defendable as "fair use".

I am seeing a lot of people doing influencer marketing. And they seem to be making a lot of money. it seems like an interesting way to make money. And it can be something that may go trendy for longer time. I have also noticed the cryptocurrency going lot better than anything these days. I am sure that in future things can be lot better this way as well. I guess we have to check out in that case.

I find that Google Plus and Stumbleupon are good social media sites where followers would leave me some comments so that I know they are reading my articles. I respond them back.

I have no luck with the google plus and stumbleupon. You can see that some of the time such social media can be really hard to work with. In fact stumbleupon is one of the hardest to work with. No idea how come stumbleupon survived this long. It seems like a good site though.

I barely see anything new in social media these days. But if am to choose a trend or following, i think I'll go with thd recent show of styles coming from the fashion side of social media trends.

if you've heard of Ankara then you'll understand where am coming from. This styles are just mind blowing. You should check them out and see for yourself.

@Rumu I have seen Ankara pages on Facebook and Instagram, the design and collections they upload on daily basis are exactly as you put it #mindblowing. Anyone who loves fashion or have a flair for tailoring profession is certainly going to learn a lot from such page.

Sincerely, there are no new trends yet as such that may be found in social media, but you need to leverage these media for your online marketing. The social media are free media whereby you have to participate actively and chat online with friends and groups. They are such online media that help you stop wasting lots of raw cash on buying newspapers or other dailies since you can easily get access to those dailies if you are on these platforms.

I do not think you're looking hard enough if you aren't finding any trends on social media. There are new trends developing and changing constantly on all forms of social media!

Look at pages like NowThis or AJ+. They have informative videos that are posted on Facebook, and these videos tell their stories completely through text with no narration. They have music playing behind the videos, but it's not necessary. These pages know that Facebook autoplays videos on the timeline, but that the videos are muted when they autoplay, so they wanted to tell their stories in a way that audio was not a necessity. They found their branding method and their storytelling method, and it's been incredibly effective. Their videos get millions upon millions of views, and more and more people are copying their format.

Really interesting stuff, in my opinion!

I don't see many major changes in terms of trends but mostly I just see some minor improvements on past ones such as better features or maybe something like streaming being given a bit more attention now, and having something like a premium comment where the streamer is given some donations in exchange for the message being more visible to them. It's not so much that these are new things since they have always existed, but now you can see it on Youtube too.

Video game streaming is a huge market, and I wish I would have been more on top of it when it was a growing concept. When Twitch started to become popular, I found it incredible that people could make so much money via donations and advertising by simply streaming themselves playing video games.

What a lifestyle!

Personally, I would pick the live streaming as the most exciting trend that the social media is experiencing now, especially on Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat. Although some people tend to stream ridiculous stuffs, anyways who cares? It's there data and subscription, so it's in their court to waste it as they please.

There are ones who try at least to stream something useful and informative. It's such videos that I take interest in and not useless uploads that flood most social media sites.

Live streaming is becoming a huge concept in the video world right now. A lot of people are trying to figure how to effectively incorporate 360 degree video for livestreaming events, meetings, and conferences so people watching can rotate their view however they please as they watch.

This is a really interesting concept, and it's exciting to see the field changing right before my eyes.

I think I would have to say live streaming too. Right now I bet if I opened my phone and scroll down my newsfeed on Facebook I would probably see someone right now live streaming. Another thing I have witness in regards to live streaming is a lot of people selling claims to people and opening them up live via Facebook. This is a trend within live streaming, and it appears that a lot of people actually do this. People are paying people for claims, and opening them up to see if they contain a pearl. If they contain a pearl the person that bought it will be shipped the pearl. Most live streams of people doing this amass a large number of active viewers, it rangers from 100 to sometimes even thousands.. the most I have seen was 2.2k viewers. This is shocking to me because it just goes to show how powerful social media can be in regards to business.

Another trend, this is solely from facebook, is chat bots. Yes, I know they have been around for a while now however it appears they are taking off really fast. There is a lot of demand for chat bots, and programmers to program a chat bot. Sounds insane to me, but whatever works right?! What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting?

There are 2 things that I find interesting but maybe more apt term is amusing. The apps that create fantasy creations like what would you be 10 years from now or how much bonus (in money) do you deserve this year. It’s just for fun and I don’t find it intelligent with the result. And then the app that adds images to you picture like putting a hat on your head of lipstick on your lips. It’s funny and amusing to me.

The new trends I find on social media that I find very interesting is the improvement on the social media chat group apps and sites, the social media groups are improving the way life is especially in the area of communications, people communicate more efficiently in the chat communities more than before. I also appreciate the level of work put to enhance the designs in this social media forums, their tools and designs are more handy and no more complicated like before, so many people now can learn social media regulations in just a short while because it is now easy and faster.

It was just like yesterday when social media and blogging started, everything is more easier to connect to now, I remember how back then when k wanted to learn networking in class I was always sleeping but now I know much about networking without going through a long process. Also one thing Social Media have improved that interests me is how the market is highly competitive now, people show case their artistic natures on social media and it has helped them advertised them selves, people now sell so much on media without having to go up and down looking for customers.

When George Bush Sr. was the president, he tried his hand at using a word processor. That was the extent of his knowledge about automation and automation tools. What I find interesting about social media is that a bunch of old folks like me use it! My kids could never convert me to play the electronic video games with them. But they didn't even have to tell me to create a social media account. I'm like Facebook? What? Where? Never mind. I found it! I'm signing up! Not only do I have social media accounts but I don't "friend" or "follow" any of my kids. What Are Some New Trends In Social Media That You Find Interesting?

This is funny, and it reminds me of my mom. In some ways, she uses social media more than I do and in many more different ways than I do. Of course, her motivations are strictly "social" and not business-related, so has a different approach than me. I often wonder how mush the social media moguls consider making their services intuitive and accessible precisely so that people of ALL generations can use and access them. The demographics of social media extend across the board, and that is really cool because you can have conversations with people from up to five generations, possibly, in one day with ease.

Live streaming is becoming huge right now, which I find really interesting. A lot of people on Instagram are using the livestreaming feature as a way to vlog, it seems. I get notifications daily when one of the people I follow starts a live video. I usually ignore it because I know it's just video of them doing something in their everyday life, but it's definitely a neat concept if you have something truly interesting to share with a wide audience!

I think the obsession with using social media to document EVERYTHING in a persons life is fascinating to me. Most of this stuff isn't relevant, like people posting pictures of what they had for lunch on a Tuesday. Or their cat lying on the bed with them while watching a movie or something. Seems pretty overdone.

Judas2018,
I am not at all a fan of those who feel that they need to regurgitate their lives online for all to see. I see this as a bit desperate and as a voyeuristic practice. Like Andy Warhol once said, everyone will have fifteen minutes of fame, but social media makes people have the delusion of constant fame, I think, and this creates a cult of personality and ego which is detrimental to intellectual and spiritual development in the long run. I know that sounds a bit harsh, and maybe over-reactive, but it is truly how I feel.

I love the different movements that happen across Twitter and Instagram due to hashtags. Most recently, I saw a small movement going on called the #HobbyLobbyChallenge, which is directed toward photographers. Since flowers are out of season during the winter, and some people wanted to shoot with flowers, a photographer took to their local Hobby Lobby and used fake flowers there as backdrops in their photo, editing it and making it look like their model was in a field of sunflowers.

They then uploaded the final picture along with a "behind the scenes" photo showing how they took the photo at a store instead, sparking a desire for others to do the same. There have some really great photos produced through the challenge, and it's been a great way for people to go out and shoot!

As a gamer, what I find new trends in social media is that some well-known video game players are doing a livestream on their game play. It is an easy way for them to let their followers or fans watch their games. Social media livestream also helps gamers to boost their popularity and sometimes they earn some money on it. I've noticed that it became a trend nowadays for some gamers because most people are now using social media everyday.

I like what Mark did on Instagram and FB adding stories or my day to their accounts like videos, pictures, and Livestream and then it will be gone for 24 hours. I don't post lots of pictures but by adding this kind of feature is actually great because it will disappear and not everyone will be noticed that you added videos or pictures to your account. Different social media platforms are innovating I hope they invent where we can use it without having a data so everyone would be able to use it for free.

I think that this is really hard to predict. Social media is driven by how willing people are willing to engage on a certain platform. As i write this the perceived platform to be on is Facebook. It has more of an audience and I think it makes more revenue from advertising than any other platform. However it is loosing its audience in droves. My prediction would be the end of the dominance of Facebook. I also see the rise of visual use in social media. The rise of platforms like Instagram and Pinterest which are visual.
