PageRank has nothing to do with traffic. There is no way it could, that honestly makes no sense for anyone to think this.

The higher page rank is not the result of high traffic volume. However, having high page rank means your website might get high traffic volume. The website with high page rank appears on the top search list. When the website appears on top search, people might be interested in checking the link. Thus, you will receive more traffic when your website is ranked high. A website gets high page rank when it has a good number of backlinks from reputed sources, a good number of social signals, contents having focus keywords etc.

A higher page rank doesn’t necessarily equate to a number of website visitors because there are other ways of getting traffic. For example, you have been doing your marketing in social media and one of your posts got viral, that will cause so many visitors who are curious of your website. A high page rank in the search list gets traffic from the searchers of your niche and that’s just it.
